I can't help you battle your demons when I don't have the strength to conquer mine, because while fighting yours I'll lose myself to the pain that haunts me every day, dragging me deeper down while I build you up. I couldn't live with myself knowing I failed at protecting the one thing in life I'm supposed to take care of, myself.
I made space in my heart dedicated to the love you promised to give me. Sitting here with an open mind hoping you fill me up with the growth that radiated off of you. Every breath I take fills those spaces in my heart with the memories of all the evil lies spoken with the most gentle voice slipping through your lips as if it were second nature to you. I hope to one day fill up those spaces with a love that only I can provide because I'm the only one deserving of them.
the hardest part of seeing all of the efforts you put into someone fade away is the realization afterward of how much easier it would've been had you put that much effort into your own growth instead of someone else's.
