It is just another day. Another morning. Another late breakfast with the same boring bagel with cheese and that weird tasting of crumbs of raisins that get stuck in your teeth. Today is another day for Shannon. Pretty dull name, I guess? Her parents thought it would be good for a baby that already had moles on her face. She is just an average female, 5'8" tall, dark skin and the curly hair that comes with it. . Oh! And brown eyes. That's your girl for you: Shannon Lloyd. Oh. . what's that? No, no, no. We're not starting with the usual protagonists. Settling it in with someone new for a change.

Shannon had barely woken up whenever the day started. The typical ray of sunshine shining down through her window and down to her face was the perfect sign to alarm her about the beginning of the day; but that doesn't work sometimes, does it? Her phone would do just the right thing by blaring its soft yet loud ringtone to let her know of the so glorious morning. She has this one cat: Fedora. Again, dull name but effective since she found it when he was a kitten inside a torn red fedora. There goes the typical routine of everyday, again. Her small apartment should do just fine for her and her curious cat.

The view is nice for a typical Illinois citizen but her trip to work is, again, usually the same: passing through white billboards with stunning advertisements, honks of cars rushing by, traffic signs telling you to turn left due to work zones nearby, etc.

She walks into the small office she works in. It's not even an office, just a squared rental place where she is able to manage the business she works for: a local book store. Nothing too serious, she just makes sure that the place is clean, takes the calls of people whose names are difficult to pronounce and deposits the rental money to the bank. Simple. As the rest of her life is.

"Yes, uh-huh. I got the bank receipt with me." Shannon said in a relaxed tone while talking on the phone to one of her managers. One of many. She also needs to make sure that she doesn't leave coffee marks of her cup on the desktop she has. Ants aren't nice. Learned that the hard way.

"Make sure to give the receipt to Georgia this afternoon. She needs to have all of those by Monday." The manager spoke softly to Shannon. "Surely!" She responded.

Ah, yes. Her friend Georgia is the other person who takes care of the work that Shannon doesn't do. Your friendly Latina friend who doesn't work on weekends but somehow manages to pay for your food when she takes you out to eat. Half and half. Teamwork! She just did what needed to be done. After her 9-3 shift was done, she drove off to Georgia's place to drop off the receipts.

"Hey! How did today go?" Georgia asked as if she didn't know how the typical day goes down.
"Oh, you know. . I get to skip breakfast just because I need to get to work on time." Shannon responded indifferent.
"Girl! ¡Tienes qué comer! At least take something with you!"
"Like a granola bar?"
"And yogurt. Or maybe te bates unos huevos. Y'know? Some quick scrambled eggs at least."
"I'll keep that in mind." Shannon said sincerely.

After such a mindful conversation, she'd just sit inside her turned-off parked car. She can tell that she lives a very. . dull life? Does she? Midlife crisis? She's just 23. Maybe a trip to the park wouldn't harm her. Or maybe she wants ice cream. Ice cream it is. A single dip cone? No! Double chocolate dip cone! As she finally got her ice cream, she'd just be checking her phone. Family photos, old memories, cats, etc. Again, it's what anyone would do. What she'd do. But things are about to get different and will break within Shannon's routine and her perspective of things. Not one but two different things will crash. Is it fairies? Elves? No. Something more.
