Aria had fought with herself all year over going to college next year or not. Finally after months of talking to her therapist, she decided it was best for herself to take a year to figure herself out before jumping into anything.

Although that sounded great to her, her parents disagreed fully. They weren't having it. Aria and her parents fought over it constantly.

"Why won't you listen to me? I've thought really hard about this. I need to take the year off. I promise I'll work a full time job the entire time." Aria was frustrated to no end. They had this fight almost every day now.

"And we said that anyone who takes a year off doesn't go to college. They decide they're better off making more money. You are going to pick a college before it is too late." Her father's voice was stern but he didn't even look at her while he talked. He continued to look down at the book he held open.

"Do you even hear me talking or do you just like to repeat yourself for the hell of it?" Aria spat.

"Aria don't speak to your father in that tone! Just agree to disagree for now. Come help me with dinner." Aria's mother called across the room as she set the table.

"I'd rather eat rat poison..." Aria mumbled before shuffling upstairs to her room.

As she flopped onto her bed she noticed the site she left open on her computer was going off. She got up and started scrolling through the comments.

Wow this place is only an hour away from Barriewood!

Damn, what I would do to go to that island.

As Aria read more and more into it she fell in love. The island was said to hold sirens, wood elves, faeries and more. It had always been her dream to see such magical beings with her own two eyes. Documenting it would be even better.

"I have to call Rosa!" Aria excitedly grabbed her phone, dialling the familiar number.

Rosa answered within two rings. Rosa had been Aria's best friend since the first day of kindergarten. The two were completely inseparable, Aria was more troubled than she liked to let on, but Rosa was always there to save the day.

Some liked to call Rosa her wing ridden angel, but really the two just loved each other so much. That love was all they needed to keep each other live.

"Soooo what do you think? Could we put together a last minute camping trip?"

"You drive me crazy. But yes. You know my dads, they support all your crazy ideas. Come on over in 20 minutes or so and we'll sweet talk them into lending us the boat for the weekend." Rosa laughed as Aria squealed.

"I can't wait! I'm packing as we speak! Love you, see you soon!"

"Love you too, girlie."

The two girls hung up and packed a small duffle bag each. Rosa was unsure about going on some crazy "goose chase" as her dads would call it. But somewhere deep down, Rosa knew this trip would help Aria, so she couldn't say no.

When could she ever say no to one of Aria's plans?

Ten minutes had barely gone by when the doorbell rang in Rosa's house. Rosa came rushing down past her dad, nearly knocking the tea out of his hand to answer the door. The girls squealed and hugged before coming into the living room with a big ball of energy following them.

"So what are the plans this weekend girls?" Rhys asked, sipping his tea.

Rosa smiled as Aria went in a whirlwind description of the island and her plans to go there and take photos, videos, and overall document their findings. Her excited energy spread through the room as both Rosa's dads, Rhys and Wes, agreed to take the two of them to the docks after breakfast.

"Your parents do know we're going on this trip, right?" Rosa asked as the two snacked on fruit.

Aria swallowed nervously and nodded. She stuffed her face with more fruit before she could say anything else. She had not told her parents because they would've told her she was crazy and probably ground her.

But Rosa didn't need to know that, did she?

Before long, Rhys came into the kitchen interrupting the girls conversation. "Are you two ready? Let's all get packed in the truck. Your dad packed you two food for the weekend." He winked and grabbed his keys off the kitchen counter.

The girls grabbed their bags of clothes and headed outside. The ride was short, but Rhys and Wes made sure to fill the entire ride about boat safety. They may let the girls get away with a lot, but not without telling them how to stay safe first.

With hugs and kisses out of the way, the girls loaded up the small boat. Waving as they departed from the docks, Aria was over the moon, letting her fingertips graze the water's surface as Rosa drove. In less than an hour, they would be at the island, and Aria was thrilled to see what it would hold for them.
