" Herpes , as you may already know , is transmitted by sexual intercourse with another . " Mr.Gibbs , the doctor explained . " Have you experienced any symptoms such as feeling nauseous , painful urination , or tingling, burning or itching sensation in the area where blisters will appear ? "
Nicky nodded . " Um , yeah . Feeling nauseous and painful urination . "
" Alright . " He said writing something down onto his clipboard .
" Can it be cured ? "
Mr.Gibbs nodded his head . " There is no curefor herpes. However, there are medicines that can prevent or shorten outbreaks. One of these anti-herpes medicines can be taken daily, and makes it less likely that you will pass the infection on to your sex partner , if you have one . "
" I can prescribe you to Drug therapy and it is not a cure, but it can make living with the condition easier . There are three major drugs commonly used to treat genital herpes symptoms: acyclovir (Zovirax), famciclovir (Famvir), and valacyclovir (Valtrex). These are all taken in pill form . I'll prescribe you to Acyclovir which prevents the sores and blisters. "
Nicky nodded and Mr.Gibbs left out the room leaving just us two there .
" You okay ? " I asked folding my arms across my chest .
She let out a sigh of frustration . " No , I'm not . How am I gonna tell mom or Beenie about this ? "
" It's gonna be hard but you gotta do what you gotta do . You might not wanna hear it but this is just the consequences of not being responsible . Mom is going to pissed , that I already know . I'm not sure how Beenie is going to take it but I know it ain't gonna be good . " I said .
" He's not gonna ever wanna talk to me again . " She shook her head . " I already know . "
" Have y'all slept together ? " I asked
She nodded her head up and down . " Twice . "
" So he has it ? "
" No . I got it from Marcus and once I found out I started pushing Beenie away . I didn't feel comfortable around him anymore knowing that I had something . To make things less complicated I broke up with him . And those two times we had sex was before I cheated on him with Marcus but it wasn't intentionally , I swear . "
