The Chapple Tree

They strolled together arm in arm among Spring's preparations

For the anticipated coming warm, enjoying the sensations

They paused, admiring nature in a quiet little glade

An apple and a cherry tree sharing one another's shade

'It's cherry pink and apple blossom white'

A lyric ran through his mind at this enchanting woodland sight

'The story goes that once a cherry tree beside an apple tree did grow'

The tangle of the branches, an artist's true delight

'And there a boy once met his bride to be long, long ago'

The scene matched his feelings that just felt so right

'The boy looked into her eyes it was a sight to enthral'

And offering a sprig of blossoms he ventured a tender kiss

'The breezes joined in their sighs the blossoms started to fall'

Receiving in return a moment of such bliss

'And as they gently caressed the lovers looked up to find'

Then bathing in the beauty of twined branches above

'The branches of the two trees were intertwined'

They discovered destiny's metaphor and shared their love

'And that is why the poets always write if there's a new moon bright above'

Blossom colours deepened as the daylight hours waned

'It's cherry pink and apple blossom white when you're in love'

And two lovers experienced magic while the tree's bouquet sustained
