CHAPTER NINE - DEJA VU

"i mean, do you really think mom would hurt dad?" entering the room, lilith sees all her siblings sans five watching a video tape

"what's going on?" lilith asks. klaus shrugs his shoulders and nods over to the tv, she does so and stands in between vanya and diego

the tape replays itself and lilith watches her mother stand by innocently watching him slowly meet his demise

lilith narrows her eyes at the television and shakes her head "what the fuck is this?" "luther's saying mom killed dad" vanya answers

lilith smirks and looks over at luther, the hurt evident on her face "really? i thought we settled that earlier luther. it couldn't have been mom"

"you haven't been home in a long time now lilith, maybe you don't know grace anymore" lilith rolls her eyes at luther's reply

"if he was poisoned, it would have shown in the coroner's report" diego explains. lilith points at him and nods in agreement

"well, i don't need a report to tell me what i can see with my own eyes" luther states, eyeing luther but lilith chuckles "i don't know, maybe all that low gravity in space messed with your vision" diego shoots her an amused look and they both high five as diego passes her

"look closer" diego walks forward and takes the remote before rewinding the tape "dad has his monocle, mom stands up, monocle's gone" diego walks over to the back of the room

"huh" lilith mutters while klaus softly let's out an "oh yeah!" lilith rests her head on klaus' shoulder

diego turns around, turning his gaze to the floor "she wasn't poisoning him, she was taking it" lilith will never believe their mother would do anything to hurt their father

"to clean it" diego continues. luther approaches him "then where is it?" he asks "i've searched the house, including her things. she doesn't have it"

lilith shakes her head "well she must've had it somewhere" luther gives her a cold look "she doesn't have it!" he snaps

"that's because i took it from her, after the funeral" all eyes land diego, lilith narrows her eyes in confusion "but...why?"

"you've had the monocle this whole time? what the hell diego?" allison looks at him with pure shock, she glances at luther before looking back at diego

"give it to me" luther demands
"i threw it away"

lilith scoffs and shakes her head "this just keeps getting better and better" she looks over at klaus and nods at him "cosmopolitan please" klaus grins and quickly gets to work

"you what?" luther slowly starts walking up to diego as allison shakes her head before taking a sip of her drink

"look i knew that if you found it on mom, you'd lose your shit," diego points his finger at luther before walking up to him as well "just like you're doing right now"

"diego you son of a bitch" the two "men" suddenly get into a fighting stance, and vanya's tiny figure still manages to stand in the middle of them

"hey no calm down" she says, klaus walks from behind her, a drink in his hand, handing it over to lilith "thanks"

"look, i know dad wasn't exactly an open book" "understatement of the year" lilith murmurs as she takes a sip of her drink. klaus grins at her comment, ruffling her hair but she swats it away
