Chapter 10 - Programming

Start from the beginning

I decided that the only thing I would need from them would be food and shelter until the age were I was allowed to move out. I also decided that I needed a way to make money as fast as possible in order for me to be able to leave the house when the time came. While I wasn't sure how to get a job at my age, I thought that I could sell things that I made.

The first thing that I sold was a robot I had made which was similar to a Roomba but had improvements such as better detection of garbage and better wheels that could function on a variety of surfaces. I put it online and was able to sell it almost immediately. I continued to sell the inventions that I made by gathering materials from junkyards and then selling them online.

While I was making money by selling inventions that I made, I increased the quality of my work by paying for online coding classes to be able to make better-programmed machines and also buying better materials. I continued to do this and made money very quickly. I also started to sell programs online to major companies that could incorporate the program into their work. I did this up until I got trapped in SAO. I was later considered as a technological prodigy, however, I didn't want any fame for my invention for two reasons.

The first reason why I didn't do this was because of how I had hidden my buying and selling of inventions from my aunt and uncle. If I had revealed my identity, they would have figured it out sooner or later and I couldn't cause them any more problems by showing my fame.

The second reason why I didn't reveal my identity was due to my personal being. I was a loner ever since I was young and had no friends with Eugeo and Alice being the only exception. I didn't like carrying out attention to myself any more than I should. On top of me being a prodigy, the public also finding out the truth about my biological parents would cause even more of a disaster towards myself.

With these two reasons in mind, I started to figure out ways to stop the public from figuring out my identity. The first thing I did was learn to hack and make it so that I was able to stay hidden in the digital world from everyone by hiding all personal information. The next step was that I would buy and sell items through various different accounts all with made-up information about themselves. The items I would buy online also were shipped to different post offices and could only be picked up by me. I set up many different security measures to stop the public from finding me and in the end, they all accomplished their mission.

Once the public and the media had given up on finding out my identity, the gave me the nickname known as 'Alpha' and soon enough my inventions started to be well known. I also started to sell my invention idea's to major companies and also publicized some programs for the public to use freely without any cost expenses. No one knew of my identity and was kept that way until the very end

I continued to read the article and read about all the evidence pointing to this. They stated how the very last invention was posted for auction on the day when SAO had been released. It further went into the details about this by also stating that any product bought after the SAO release date had not been shipped to the people who had bought them indicating that Alpha was trapped in the game. It went further into the evidence saying how Alpha is still yet to come back even a month after the SAO ended and how the player who defeated SAO was also still a mystery. The article ended by theorizing how Alpha and Kirito were the same people.

Once I finished reading, I thought of how I could get rid of the article, however, it had already started trending and was downloaded too many times. I decided to leave it alone and worry about my current problems at hand since the evidence that the article released wasn't cold hard facts, but rather just speculation.

I continued to look around for other articles until I was stopped by a notification relaying that the transfer of data has been completed. I clicked on the notification and was redirected to a folder that contained files about various data that had been accumulated into my nervegear.

While I did feel curious to look through all the data that was provided, there was one specific thing I was looking for a file called "YUI".

Once I located the file, I opened it up to reveal long strings of complicated code. I inspected the code and read through it taking in all the information that had been associated with Yui's core management and how she functioned as an AI. After looking throughout Yui's AI, I found out that there were some missing components in her programming which were provided by the Cardinal system which ran SAO. Since Yui wasn't in the Cardinal system currently, her programming wasn't able to function properly and that section of her programming would have to be rewritten.

Since I had figured out the reasoning behind Yui not being able to function, I got to work and started to rewrite parts of her code which relied on Cardinal and adjusted it or completely rewrote it to be able to work based off the information on my PC.

Just then, I heard a knock on my door. I looked over and the person who knocked spoke.

"Kazuto, the pizza has arrived. I brought some up for you" The person who knocked was Eugeo

"You can come in"

Eugeo opened the door and walked into the room, I turned back around and continued my work on Yui. Eugeo looked at me while my fingers were moving ridiculously fast across the computer so that I can complete the Yui program before the meeting.

Eugeo placed the plate of pizza next to my keyboard and looked at my computer screen with a very confused look.

"What you working on Kazuto?"

"Its an AI from SAO"

"An AI?"

"Artifical Intelligence"

"No, I know what an AI is, I was just wondering how you met an AI and why your recreating it"

"That's a long story and something that I don't have time to explain right now"

"Well okay, just remember to get ready in a couple of hours, we have a meeting to go to remember," Eugeo said while exiting my room

I continued working on Yui's programming and giving the clock a glance, I had four hours left until it was six, so that meant I could work on Yui for another three hours before we had to leave since Agil's place was a half an hour walk.

I continued to work on the program without a second to spare.
