i made my steps visible by dragging my feet across the grass in long strides. one of the girls looked at me, and i smiled while waving my darkened hand into her vision. she shook her head nervously and elbowed her friends.

i continued walking while showing off the darkness of my hand, instantly retrieving it when they backed away, leaving me to face one boy who was staring at me with confusion visible on his face.
