12 Years ago ~At the Umbrella Academy

"Number 0 you have 15 minutes until it's time to train," Father yells.

I get out of my bed and put on my uniform for this cursed umbrella academy. No it's not a school it's my home, you see 18 years ago 43 women all gave birth at the same time on the same day. Usually, that wouldn't be remarkable at all but they didn't start out the day pregnant, my adopted father Reginald Hargreaves went to each family trying to buy them all. He got 8. I'm number 0 also know as Elizabeth Hargreaves, then Number 1 also know as Luther Hargreaves, Number 2 also known as Diego Hargreaves, Number 3 also known as Alison Hargreaves, Number 4 also known as Klaus Hargreaves, Number 5, Number 6 Ben Hargreaves, and Number 7 Vanya Hargreaves. But our father never called us by our names he called us by our numbers. The only time we got to be called by our names was by each other or by our mother.

Grace Hargreaves also was known as Mom, now that's a case story for you. I can't tell you how many Nannies we went through growing up in one day out the next. Finally, dad gave up on it and built Grace she is a robot programmed to be as motherly as possible. Don't get me wrong she is super nice and I love her, granted anyone in comparison is nicer than Reginald Hargreaves. But having a robot for a mom is weird. But our whole family is weird so it fits.

I stare back in to my bed to see my person still asleep in the bed. Number 2, Diego, yes he technically is my adopted brother but we have a different relationship than with my other siblings we are actually dating. But of course my father could never know this. We're both 18 and have been together for 4 years. We both developed feelings for each other after a mission, it was only me and Diego on when we and were 14 at the time. I know sending two 14-year-olds alone on a mission doesn't sound like the brightest idea in the world. But when they both have enhanced abilities it's fine. Diego's abilities are more water based that's why we called him the Kraken he is an excellent swimmer and can hold his breath forever, and he has the ability to curve and thing he throws most of the time it's knives. I can control all the earth elements, like fire, water, earth, wind and I can also talk to animals. Growing up my siblings would call me a hippie cause I would never let them hurt an animal or the earth. We were sent to San Juan, Puerto Rico there were poachers who were killing all the frogs on the island. They were using the frogs as poison to kill foreign dignitaries. The others were sent to protect the foreign dignitaries. Usually, it would be Ben, Diego and I as a team but he went with Klaus. So it was just the two of us, I was the leader for that mission which Diego wasn't super thrilled about of course but seeing that we were supposed to be dealing with animals father felt that I should lead. The whole mission was very long and we often spent most nights awake talking, that's how we found about each other's feelings. 

Father always had us training and if we weren't training we were on missions and if we weren't on missions we were doing publicity things. Reginald Hargreaves was a man who values public opinion over anything else so he wanted us to be the best, he kept us busy bettering ourselves so there wasn't much time for us to be kids except Saturday's. We had the afternoon to do whatever we wanted so I and Diego would go to our spot and talk mostly.

"Diego," I say as I slap his arm to wake him up.

"What I'm sleeping, give me five more minutes," Diego says sleepily.

"Yeah and if dad catches up in here you'll be sleeping forever. "

"Come here," Diego says pulling me into my bed with him. He sits up in my bed and I sit on his lap and wrap my arms around his neck, and he wraps his arms around my waist.

"Only a couple of more days and will be gone and never have to listen to dad anymore. It will be just the three of us, no one telling us what to do." Diego says rubbing my sides. I put my hand on my stomach and smile, I found out I was pregnant two weeks ago. We were already planning on leaving a couple of days after our eighteenth birthday. But once I told Diego and he was so happy, we decided to move up the day we left. 

"I'm nervous, what if he sends everyone else after us?" I say and let my head fall so he doesn't see the tears starting to form in my eyes.

"Look at me," Diego says as he lifts my head to match his and puts his hand on top of mine. "I've got everything planned, all you have to do is stick with me. Trust me, baby, I've got it all under control." Diego pulls me into his chest and kisses my head.

"Number 0 downstairs now! Do not make me come up there!" Father once again yelled.

"I'm coming father!" I yelled back at him.

"The old man always knows how to ruin our moment," Diego says as I get off of him.

"It's his superpower," I say as I leave my room.
