"Anyone else here yet?" Luther asks.
"Nope." I answer softly.
"You think Vanya will show up?"
"I hope so. I haven't seen her in years. After her book came out, Deigo said I could never speak to her again. We write letters back and forth but I still miss being around her."
"Well, I hope she comes then."
"Me too."
"I am shocked though, that you at least make it seem like your going along with what Diego says. The Elizabeth I know would never let anyone tell her what to do." Luther says with his arms crossed.
"What Diego doesn't know won't hurt him. What about Alison any word from her?" Luther averts eye contact when I mention Alison.
"I haven't talked to her in years."
"When she had Claire I reached out to her and said congratulations and we talked back and forth for a little bit but that died off too." Luther keeps his head down and nods his head and listens to me.
"What about Klaus? Is he still using?" Luther asks.
"Is the sky still blue?" I ask sarcastically. "I came up here once a couple of years ago and forced him to go to rehab."
"Do you think we could get Allison to rumor him to stop using?"
"Pfftt, I seriously doubt it." I say, we walk over to the living room and sit on the couch.
"You know after you left nothing was the same." I roll my eyes at him and scoff. "I'm serious Lizzie, you were the glue that held this family together. When we lost Ben you kept us all going without you we all would have been lost."
"What good have I done? I lost everyone I care about, and its all his fault." I say looking up at a painting of our father. I conjure up a fireball and throw it at landing directly at his face.
"That feel good?" Luther says getting up and getting a fire extinguisher and putting it out.
"No, I wish it was his actual face." Luther looks at me disapprovingly. "Oh get over it, just because you were his favorite doesn't mean you have to keep kissing his butt. He's dead, get over it." The front door opens stopping us from arguing any further, we both look over in that direction to see who it was coming through the door. In walked Alison, wearing a black pea coat with black pants and black heals she walkings into the living room with a suitcase in tow. She stops dead in her tracks when she sees Luther, I swear you could feel the sexual tension radiating off of them, and it was gross to be caught in the middle. "Jeez, Alison you look like your dressed for a funeral. Who died?" I chucked.
"Nice to see you haven't lost your dark sense of humor Lizzie." Alison says. "Dad died have a little compassion."
"The man we were told to call dad is dead so we're not even siblings anymore, so I don't know why I'm here." I say getting up from my seat. I walk over to the stairs and start to climb them, all the way to the top floor and sit on the railing, my favorite childhood spot. I would sit up here for hours and watch everyone. I see the door open and Vanya walks in, my heart aches I've missed her so much not having my twin sister has really taken a toll on me.
I knocked on her door, scared out of my mind. I have been putting this off for as long as I could. We're leaving tomorrow, the only way of life I know granted it's not a great way of life but it has been for the past 17 years. The door opens to reveal my sister's smiling face, I feel awful knowing the news I'm about to tell her. I smile a small smile back at her, she pulls me into the room and shuts the door behind us.
"So did you take it?" She asks as we both sit on her bed.
"Yeah." I wring my hands nervously.
"And?" Vanya says leaning in close to me.
"It was positive."
"So is that good or bad?" She questions with a worried look on her face.
"I don't know, part of me is a little happy and the other part is worried. Worried about what Dad will do, worried about what Diego will say, and worried if I will even be a good mother."
"Do you want to have the baby?"
"Yes, I can't imagine giving it up. I've known about this child growing inside of me for a day, and already there's nothing I wouldn't do to protect. I love it, I'm just scared. It's not like we had any parental role models to look up to. Mom is the closest thing we have to an actual parent and she is a robot."
"I know. But we've made do so far. You know I'm all ways here for you whatever you need. I will help you with everything. What do you wanna do?"
"Run."
"What do you mean run?"
"Diego and I are planning on running, run with us. And if Diego doesn't want the baby, then we can just run."
"Ok."
"Really?"
"Yeah, do you want me to be there when you tell him?"
"Would you?"
"Of course Lyza."
End of flashback.
Vanya enters and Alison walks to the door.
"Would you look at that." Alison says. Vanya turns and looks at her. "Everyone was taking bets on whether you'd show."
"Did you win?" Vanya asks Alison shakes her head no she steps forward toward her sister rather awkwardly.
"Are we supposed to... how is this go?"
"I have no idea." Alison gives her a hug that looks so uncomfortable I'm even cringing from my view.
"I'm glad your here." Alison says and they both smile.
"At least someone is." Diego says walking down the stairs to the living room. The girls finally let go of each other.
"Go play in traffic Diego." Alison retorts.
"Your seriously gonna defend her? After what she did."
"Your seriously gonna do this today? At Dad's funeral?"
"Dad knew what she was." Diego says starting to walk away.
"Diego is Lizzie here?" Vanya asks quietly. Diego turns around and gets up in Vanya's face.
"You, stay away from her. She has been through enough problems in her life. She has been better without you." Diego says. At this point, I had enough. I jumped all the way down from the top floor down to the foyer, landing perfectly. Everyone is shocked and looks at me. Alison walks away tired of me and my antics for the day. She stands in the doorway of the living room.
"I think I can speak for myself." I say. I walk over to Vanya and hug her, she hugs me back. Its been so long since we have been together, tears begin to sting my eyes.
"I've missed you V."
"I've missed you too Lizzie." We let go of each other and she has tears in her eyes too. We both laugh and smile.
"Elizabeth." Diego warns, I know what he's thinking but I don't wanna hear it. I roll my eyes and Vanya chuckles. "Now." I turn around and see his face he is so angry so I go over to him, he grabs my wrist and pulls me upstairs with him quickly. I turn and face Vanya I mouth sorry to her and she nods her head understanding.
