"Happy first day of school lunch," Jenna said, kissing my neck.

"Hey, stop that," I scolded, giggling. "Aw, you brought me fast food. I like fast food."

"And good weather."

"And you should like it too. Thank you, babe." Jenna pecked me on the lips and I quickly pulled away. "Okay, I have to get back to the kids. I'll see you in a couple more hours."

"Alright. I'm gonna go pick up David, and then go home and put away groceries." Jenna groaned. "I miss having you to run errands with."

"Sorry, but it's the school year again. I can call Cameron to-"

"No! I love the boy, but we'll never get anything done," she said, whispering the last part.

I rolled my eyes. "Go pick up our child. I'll see you soon."

"Mhm, 'kay." She kissed my nose, and I scrunched it up. "Love you."

"Love you, too."

She smiled and left, leaving me to sigh out of happiness as I watched her walk away. God, even after all these years, she made me feel like I was fourteen again, harboring that secret crush on her.

While I was working with the kids, there was a light knock on the door. I looked up to see a fairly handsome young guy standing there. He had spiked black hair, dark eyes, and a fair amount of stubble along his jawline. He was wearing a pair of gym shorts and an SWSCD (Sullivan West Central School District) t-shirt. He smiled a small half-smile and walked over to me.

"You must be Mrs. McDougall, the new MD teacher," he said, holding out his hand.

I shook it. "I am."

"I'm Mr. Nichols, the gym teacher."

"Well, it is very nice to meet you, Mr. Nichols."

He smiled at me and looked at the students. "You know, Jamie understands sign language better than if you talk to him," he said to me.

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at the student he was talking about, Jamie Meyers. I had noticed that he had a difficult time understanding me unless I used my hands. "Thank you, Mr. Nichols," I said sincerely. "I've been trying to talk to him all day."

Mr. Nichols smiled. "No problem. And call me Jake, please, Mrs. McDougall."

I smiled as well. "Call me Tay."

"Will do. Well, I should be going. It was a pleasure to meet you, Tay," he said, putting emphasis on my name, which made me laugh. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Same goes to you, Jake."

"Ow! Ow! Evan, stop!" Ava yelled, swatting at him.

"Hey!" I yelled, shutting them up immediately. "That's enough out of the both of you!"

David seemed completely oblivious to his surroundings, which was good. If he was paying attention, he'd be crying his eyes out.

Jenna gave me an uneasy look as she drove from the school. "How was the first day of school?"

"Boring," Evan said. "Mr. Conners drones on forever. I swear, I lived a year in an hour of his class--and we weren't learning a damn thing!"

"Watch your mouth," Jenna said, giving him a quick look in the rearview mirror.

"Kelly Harper stopped talking to me," Ava said. "She said it was because Lucas and I dated over the summer."

"I didn't know you and Lucas dated over the summer," I said, and looked at Jenna. "Did you know that?" She just shrugged and kept her eyes on the road.

"Oh, they dated," Evan said with a smirk. "They made out all of the time."

"Shut up, Evan!" Ava yelled, and the two began yelling at each other again.

"Both of you, zip it!" Jenna yelled. The entire car stayed in silence before coming to a stop. "We're here. Behave yourselves or no TV for a week."

"Mom!" they whined.

"Then behave."

Jenna's P.O.V.

"Hey, Ava, watch this," Evan said. He lifted the exposed part of his straw to his lips and blew the paper wrapping at Ava's face.

"You freaking immature--"

"Careful," Tay warned.

"You kind, adorable, caring twin brother," Ava finished with a fake look of sincerety on her face. She then patted Evan's long, blonde hair, and he growled.

"Don't touch my hair, Ava."

"I'll touch whatever I want, boy wonder."

"Boy wonder? Wow, haven't heard that one before."

"Maybe if you cleaned out your oversized Dumbo ears--"

I groaned and placed my head in my hands. Our plates were set in front of us and, when I couldn't take anymore, I scolded them as loudly as I could without embarassing our family. "I swear to God, the next one of you that says something rude at this table or when we get home will be grounded for two weeks. Do I make myself clear?"

Ava and Evan looked down at the table. "Yes, ma'am."

"Ayah!" David yelled, reaching for Tay. She smiled at him and lifted him out of the high chair, setting him in her lap.

"So, how was your first day?" I asked her as the kids ate in silence.

"It was good. I met the gym teacher--"

"Mr. Nichols?" Evan asked, taking a bite of his taco.

"Yeah. He's really nice and helpful."

"He made us run three laps in under six minutes," Ava said. "I don't run."

"We're all aware," Evan murmured and I shot him a warning glare.

"Shut your taco-hole," Tay said and we all laughed. Well, David didn't; he just kind of yelled something in gibberish and made a grab for Tay's phone.

"So this gym teacher," I started, "Mr. Nichols..."

"Oh, yeah. He's really nice. He helped me communicate with one of the AU kids, Jamie. It helped so much. It made teaching him a lot easier."

"Jamie Meyers?" Ava asked.

"Yeah."

"He's so adorable. He waved to me this morning and he was so adorable."

"He's so sweet, too," Tay said. "But he does have a little difficulty with understanding when someone's talking to him. He understands hand signs and sign language a lot better. It's a more universal way for us to talk, and that's what Jake told me."

"Jake?" Ava, Evan, and I asked at the same time.

"Oh, Mr. Nichols, sorry..." Tay adjusted David in her lap. The kids shrugged it off and continued eating but suddenly, I wasn't hungry anymore.

A/N

Uh-oh... I sense a little jealousy in Jenna...?? Oh, my God Evan and Ava's brother-sister relationship is so funny to write because, well, it's beautiful. Ah, boy wonder :)

Off to the side (or at the top if you're in the app) is a picture of Evan and Ava. Idk I find these pictures on Google. Sue me (don't really, please omg we just spent all our money on painting the house and I feel like we're underwater couldn't they have just kept it white instead of making it three different colors??????)

Much love <3
