Dedicated to Sarah because I love the cover she made for me! <3

The thing I hate most about going out with my brothers is the attention that comes. I’m the only girl in a family of four kids and sometimes it sucks because I would love to have a sister to talk to about relationships and boys. I would never go to my mom about things like that because my mom is sort of weird and she gets paranoid when I want to talk to her about things like sex, not that I’m active or going to be soon – It’s just one of those things a teenage girl needs to know so she’ll be prepared when the time comes.

Mom and dad literally shoved us all out the door earlier this morning, saying something about a dinner party and we couldn’t be in the house because we would tear the place up and they wanted to make a good first impression.

They know us so well. Since I have three older brothers, I mostly hang around guys. I never grew up with a feminine role model or someone I could be like because my mom doesn’t dress girly herself most of the time. I’ve always hung around my brothers, playing and doing whatever they’re doing. I bet I’m the only girl in the school who would rather get down and dirty in the mud then go get a manicure.

Most girly things annoy me. I hate that some girls dumb themselves down to make a guy like them. If I ever get a boyfriend, I'm not going to pretend I'm stupid, then they'll really think I'm stupid.

Some of the things girls do confuse me, like when they starve themselves to try and get that perfect figure. If a guy doesn't like your size then he obviously isn't meant for you and you need to leave him alone. Let him be forever alone.

We were currently in the mall, about to get kicked out. We hadn’t stolen anything, we were mostly pulling pranks.

I dared my oldest brother Jackson to slow dance with a mannequin. We got kicked out of that store and we were no longer able to come back in.

Oh well.  We were now just walking around the mall, trying to find something else to do. I was about to suggest another dare for one of my brothers to do when my stomach started rumbling. My brothers must have heard it because they all burst into a fit of laughter.

“Sounds like Avery’s hungry.” My second-oldest brother Luke pointed out.

“No shit Sherlock.” I mumbled.

My youngest brother Adam flipped off my cap and began to mess up my hair. I slapped his hand and retrieved my hat, and then I put it back on and glared at him.

“I hate when you do that.” I reminded him.

“If I didn’t do the things that piss you off, I wouldn’t be a very good older brother now would I?” He smiled.

I couldn’t argue with that, I remained silent as we entered the food court. I don’t even know what I want; I could eat a bit of everything from each of these vendors if I wanted to.

I decided on buying myself a hamburger, large fry and a large coke. When I get hungry, be prepared to see a disgusting sight. I made my way over to the table where my brothers were sitting and plopped down in the space next to Adam.

Immediately, the boys all grabbed a bunch of my fries and grinned when I glared at them.

“You assholes.” I said.

Jackson, the biggest ass of the three took another piece which got me even madder.

“You guys go get your own freaking fries! How am I supposed to survive off just a hamburger until dinner? That’s like trying to survive on bread and water for three years. It’s impossible!” I screamed at them as I began to stuff my face with the rest of the fries they left me so they wouldn’t get any more.

When I was done with my food, I threw away my cup and trash. When I got back to the table, they were all gone. They totally freaking ditched me. Oh well, it’s not like I needed them anyways. I began to wander around the mall, I finally decided to drop into hot topic. Hot Topic has always been my favorite store because I love rock music and things like that and I've been meaning to go check out their newest items.

I began to pick up random shirts, all of the bands in here I love. I also got a couple of bracelets and a necklace. I was ready for checkout when…

“You’re short.” I heard someone behind me say. I quickly spun around and my breathing got caught in my throat. Standing before me was Liam Harris, the most popular guy in school. I know what you’re probably thinking:

Here goes another fan girl. While it’s true that I think Liam is the prettiest boy in our school, I’m not head over heels for him. I like him but I wouldn’t be like the other girls in my school who are trying to get his attention. I would never change myself or dumb myself down for a guy.

No matter how hot he is…

“No shit Sherlock.” I’m a very sarcastic person and my catch phrase is ‘No shit Sherlock’, I use it a lot.

I finished paying for my things and left the store. I now had to go find my brothers or they were going to leave me. I took my phone out of my pocket and was pissed to see that it was completely dead. Good going, Avery.

“Need some help?” It was Liam again. I don’t know why he’s talking to me, he never does at school.

“No.” I said. Truth was, I did need help but I’ve never been the type of person who wants help. I like to do things on my own, I like to be independent.

“Did you get separated from your mommy and daddy?” He asked in a baby like voice.

“No, my brothers ditched me.” I replied.

“I’m pretty sure we’ll find them, what are they, like seven or eight?”

“Two are eighteen, and one is seventeen.” I told him.

“The last place I saw them was the food court that was when they ditched me so I went to hot topic. I swear to God, if they left me here by myself I will murder them.” I was mostly talking to myself more than to Liam this time.

“What are their names?”

I sighed, “Adam, Jackson and Luke.” I said.

“Wait, the walker brothers? I didn’t know they had a sister.” He looked over my boyish appearance.

“Yeah, I’m not really girly.”

“I can see that.” He looked over me again, making me cringe under his gaze.

We’re not getting anywhere. Liam pulled out his iPhone and began looking at something; finally he pressed a button and put it up to his ear.

“Luke, its Liam. Yeah, your sister is looking for you guys. She’s outside of Hot Topic. Hey, I didn’t know you had a sister. Really? Okay, hmm…interesting. Okay bye.” He said into the phone and hung up.

“They’re on their way.” He told me and began to walk off. Before he completely left, he turned around to look at me.

“You’re welcome Avery.” He smirked and walked off.

How did he know my name?
