unwritten stories

For some of them
They were unwritten
Unaccounted for
Their stories untold
But sometimes they were and details were often played with
Sometimes the lead miswritten
Chapters were omitted
Pages to ash to dust
The pain is a must
families mourn
Though they drown in sorrow
Their tears will never reach their soil
For we cannot touch the soul
So they are left to often wonder
Are they out there or are they gone?
They will cry their fears over years
It will be clear who has the guts let alone the ears
To listen to the inquiries that aren't being solved
To hear their stories from beginning to end
To take the time to truly comprehend
Cause these families are being robbed and the thieves are getting away
They were warriors, and they weren't anyone's to have
Their decomposing stories
Will end with their kin
And I guess their stories
Are up for interpretation
Because even with evidence
Of their dismembered bodies
Pointing in a direction of relevance
Their demons may never see justice
Walks will be demonstrated
Echoing their names
But without them home
We know it's not the same
They weren't flowers to pluck or resources to rape
Now I've seen them missing
Again and again
The Indigenous Women
The Indigenous Men

Say their names

I feel it's a matter of when
As they have become a target
Missing & Murdered Indigenous
Women, Girls, 2 Spirit & Men
Say their names so it won't be us who forgets

Say their names

Governments spokesperson June 2019 refused to declare Genocide
I double dare them to say their names. The hundreds confirmed murdered
The truth is in plain view
Even when they try to hide
This has been a part of the plan
They've had blueprints for generations
7 I believe to be exact
Because truth is they fear our nations
So they ignore and they give us slight of hand
Media turned against us because we're protecting land?
In reality the issues are multi faceted
And we have become a commodity
We have become disposable
Human trafficking is a multi billion dollar system
Intertwined with systemic racism that places our babies and population as the majority in foster and criminal institutions
500 years and they're on the same agenda
It's 2022 now and we can all see
It's time to wake up and stay woke and idle no more
We need to protect our people and it includes all people
Our resiliency will be the resistance campaign
We've shown our endurance and we're healing at a tremendous pace

So when we protest and use our voices in the streets on the railtracks and in your social media platforms.

Understand we are asking Canada to uphold their promises to our people's and to this land.

"We have failed you," he told the audience. "But we will fail you no longer."
