"You coming down any time soon?" I asked from below. His eyes widened, but then he blinked a few times. In seconds, he was right behind me, looking bewildered at himself.
"See? Easy." I said encouragingly, forcing all rational thoughts from my head. "Now, where is she?"
"I...uh...at the construction site, by that cafe' you and your friends are always at." He said, shrugging. I knew the place he was talking about. Okay, and how exactly did he know where me and my friends hang out? Uhh...Strange much?
"Yeah, er, okay. And how do you know where I hang out?" I asked bluntly. No beating around the bush for me, no siree.
"Desu invited me once. But you weren't there, so it wasn't much fun." I didn't bother to question /that/. Geez, was flirty or what? I decided to act like I wasn't listening, and darted off into the shadows, following my internal map to the construction site.
"And why is she there?" I asked persistantly.
Chance didn't respond right away. "We live there. It's our home."
Ah. Okay.
He must have seen something in my expression, because right then he chuckled. "There's a few underground rooms there. We set up base in a them."
Yeah. Still homeless. Explains why he didn't tell his 'parents'.
I raced along the orangey-coloured streets, avoiding the glow as much as I could by darting into alleys and such. Chance seemed uncomfortable whenever I veered into the gloomy darkness, but I didn't stop. This seemed urgent enough to say that there wasn't time.

We ran for some time, mostly I had to stop and wait for Chance to catch up. He didn't seem accustomed to running, unlike me, who could run faster than a car if I wanted. I wondered if he had been given super-strength, or some other power. Or maybe he was just hiding it, not wanting me to know. I dismissed the idea with a casual flick of my head; even in the short time I had known him, I had found out that Chance isn't like that. I mean, somebody who could /laugh/ at me wouldn't try to hide special powers. Maybe.
I decided to slow down slightly, to watch him run. It was a rough, ragged gait, and he seemed tired. He also didn't look panicked, as one would think he'd be. After all, his sister must be in a lot of trouble for him to decide to call in the cavalry.
Step by step, sprint by sprint, we finally made it to the construction site. It was completely and utterly abandoned. Even that tractor over there...I wonder if I'll get a chance to ride it?
"Finally." Chance huffed, his palms resting on his knees.
"Yeah yeah, we're here. Now where is she?" I asked, my super-sharp vision scanning the site. Nothing out of the ordinary...
"C'mon." He said, pointing towards a patch of rubble on the far side of the site. He looked...excited? Ah, whatever.
He started off at a trot, then into a sort of gallop. I sniggered to myself, but became silent again as he glanced at me seriously.
It looked like a big lump of useless debris, but I knew it must be something else. An entrance to the secret lair, perhaps?
Chance shifted some aside with his foot casually, which revealed a...a /manhole/. I laughed outright in a sickly voice. I glimpsed Chance rolling his eyes.
