After brushing my hair swiftly and renewing my makeup without wiping off yesterday's.
I grabbed a Pop Tart in the kitchen, and left.
"AGH!" I shrieked as the early morning sun attacked the unsuspecting me. I flailed my arms and ducked back inside, panting softly. Angela(I just realized I haven't told you my sister's name yet) completely ignored me. I took a few deep breaths, then stepped outside again. This time, the sun didn't scorch my eyes, so I hurried to my car. I often refused to ride the bus, even though my sister wanted me to ride it to make 'normal friends'. Ha. If only her memories of a school bus weren't from 6th grade. I downed the pop tart rapidly as I drove, then jumped up as a vieration came from my hip, where my bag was. I pulled my cell phone out, my eyes still on the road, and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Evie, it's Myles. Do you mind picking me up? My mom won't let me use her car and I woke up late, missing the bus and--" I broke him off.
"What do you mean, silly? Of course I'll pick you up. No use trying to give me excuses." I laughed, turning the car around Myles's house. "I'll be there soon, bye." I cut the phone call short, not eager to be seen by cops and arrested for using my phone while driving or something stupid like that.
I pulled in front of his house and honked the horn once. He came hurrying out of his house, lugging a bag similar to mine, and quickly threw open the door.
"Good morning, fag." I said brightly, going back down the road I had 15 minutes ago, on my way to school.
He sighed, then responded distractedly. "'Morning."

"Something wrong?" I asked him, already sensing he wasn't his normal, cheery self.
"No...It's just...My dad, you know? He'll never accept me for who I am." Myles said sadly, not looking at me.
I knew what he meant. Myles's dad was a real ass. He was a mix of redneck and military, and couldn't accept the fact that his son wasn't like him. He was always getting up in his business for being bi. It's actually kind of sad. In all the years I had known Myles, I've never heard his father speak a kind word to his son, let alone bond.
"I'm sorry..."I said, though I didn't really know what I was apologizing for. It put a smile on Myles's face.
"Evie, you don't have anything to be sorry about. My dad's the one who should be sorry, the jerk. It's no one's fault but his." He said, trying to put on a happy facade. Once, Myles had revealed to me that he thought it was his own fault, and he was the one making his father's life miserable. But that time had passed. I hope.
We arrived at the school late, the doors about to close. Kids were milling about in front of the school, trudging through the fall leaves.
"Thanks, Eve." Myles said as we got out of the car. "I owe ya' one."
"No problem," I assured him as we entered the big, modern looking school. I was in my last year of high school, before I go 'Off To College' which I have no plan of doing. My sister is still not giving up on me, though, so I'm not sure if she'll make me go or not.

RomanceEvelyn Alice Volesky isn't one for the future. Sure, maybe some day she'd lose some of her signiture snappiness, but that wasn't anytime soon. For now she just planned to attend her last year of High School (SOME of it, anyway), NOT go to college...
