"Those are so cool, Chance." She smiled up at him, in her very best flirty voice. Before Chance could respond, the teacher called for silence, and he dashed to his seat, leaving my staring off into space.
For Double English, it sure passed in a blur. Before I knew it, it was lunchtime. I still ahdn't managed to get Chance out of my head. "Damnit." I cursed, when I ran into someone during passing time.
"Excuse me?" That voice that so wonderfully made my soul sing inquired. Chance.
"None of your business." I was NOT going to reveal how much he making me shiver.
"You're the one who ran into me. I think that makes it my business." He said. Who said he could smile like that? Who? And what gave him the right to laugh at me?
I drew myself up to full height and glared at him. "You were in my way, smart-ass." I growled, trying to push ahead of him. He caught my arm, and the slight touch of his skin on mine made me see stars. He must have felt it too, because he pulled his hand away as if I had shocked him. That moment of his uneasiness vanished like mist in sunshine, and he again slipped into his regular (If I can even call it regular, as I've only known him since today) sly self.
"Something had to have been distracting you." He said, looking puzzled.
"Look, as I said, it's none of your business. Plus, you're wasting my lunch period." I said pointedly.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were in such a hurry." He said, making a face that looked like he was trying hard not to break into a smile.
"She's /always/ in a hurry, dude." Another voice joined in. Myles. He didn't sound all that happy. For some reason, that annoyed me too. Guys. What jerks. "Then again, you can't really be expected to know that, can you?"
Chance raised one of his eyebrows, eyeing Myles. Oh my GOD was he jealous of Myles? Wow, wasn't exactly expecting that. "No, I can't. Anyway, see you later, Evelyn." He said, turning away. I was confused at his sudden retreat, but made up my mind to make nothing of it. Myles led my to the Cafeteria, grumbling about stuff I couldn't quite catch.
"What was that all about, Myles? I can fend for myself, you know." I snarled quietly.
"I know. It's just...That guy gets under my skin. There's something very strange about him...It doesn't add up. I don't trust him." Myles said, giving in. I felt kind of bad for snapping at him but...Well, as I often say, my business is my business.

Chapter 2?
Angela kept a close eye on me the following days. She wouldn't permit me to not go to school, even if I told her I was dying. She made sure I did all my homework, no matter how much I complained/screamed. I know I could have used compulsion on her, to stop her sudden obbsession with my school, but it didn't feel right to use it on my sister, no matter how much I longed to do it. In fact, I don't really like using compulsion on /anyone/. I know I wouldn't like it if somebody blindfolded me and made me walk. It just...didn't feel right.
Then, Friday finally came. I had been pretty much avoiding Chance since that day when Myles confronted him, and I guess Chance finally decided to confront /me/ about it after Double English.
