The lad and the female servant took a stroll on the courtyard. The green grass swayed freely along with the cool summer breeze. The female servant was having second thoughts.

"Everin, I am going to ask Sir Ryker to return ye money." Miss Lucy said unable to accept the lad's money. "My family are poor serfs that work on Lord Bullock's land. We will never be able to repay ye money to ye. I will talk to my father and ask him to break off the marriage."

"And if they choose not to. Will you marry Sir Ryker then?"

The two servants both knew the answer to that question.

"You don't have to worry about paying me back." Everin insisted.

Everin could earn that kind of money back in no time compared to Miss Lucy. And the currency of this world meant no value to Everin.

"Everin, what do you mean? This is my family's debt. I must pay you back."

"It's not my money." Everin admitted. "I asked Sir Lee for a loan."

From what Everin heard from Taylor, Sir Lee was a very wealthy man. A few shillings to Sir Lee were nothing compared to his real estate and wealth. And Everin could feel that when she asked him for money. He seemed willing to give her the loan. The strangest part was he didn't even question Everin about what the money was used for.

"Ye what?"

Miss Lucy's face was filled with concern.

"Don't worry, I didn't tell him anything about Sir Ryker."

"No, Everin. That's not what I am worried about." Miss Lucy told the lad. "Ye seem happy when ye were talking about leaving the residence. But now... because of me...,"

Earlier this morning....

Sir Williams left to town on some business, while Sir Lee made his rounds in the residence. The news of a bet between Sir Lee and Taylor has also spread all over. A group of servants from the flour mill lowered their heads to greet the baronet.

"Sir Lee, thank ye for rewarding the servants with cheesecake and rice pudding." One female servant said thanking the baronet.

"Taylor haven't won yet. Isn't it still too early to thank me?"

The servants chuckled. They all had placed their bids on the squire winning. Taylor was the champion of every archery competition. He could shoot nine bullseyes on horseback. Shooting ten bullseyes while standing still wasn't considered a challenge. The servants kept their heads lowered as the baronet continued walking.

While he was making his rounds, he was also searching for the lad. He had heard from a few servants that the lad was currently helping the servants deliver flour to the kitchen.

"Everin, I don't know how to thank ye for helping us." A female servant said. "All the servants have gone to see the archery game leaving us with the work."

Everin threw the sack of flour onto the wagon.

"No problem. We are almost done here. You should go watch the event before it ends."

"Really?" The female servant's eyes sparkled.

"Just go already!" A male servant said telling her to go. "Ye have been doing nothing but talking about the squire."

Without saying another word, the female servant departed in a hurry to see her crush.

"Don't mind her. Like many female servants are, she is infatuated by the handsome and popular squire." The male servant said.
