IF only I had a grip
Like one of a boa constrictor,
(Excuse the odd metaphor)
I might've held on to it longer.
If only I had been as outspoken
As your dear self,
Mayhaps I would've been
Wealthier in brawn, not words.
If only I had better timing,
Like your ever obsessive Sun,
Rising at dawn and setting at noon,
Earlier would've it been saved.
If only I had a silver tongue,
Like your many admirers,
Perhaps I would've called our friendship
Something other than "it".
