~ Part two ~ Virus ~

A day or two passed and you still can't get a hold on anything that might help with tracking down this hacker! he covered his tracks good but for what purpose? you didn't know anyone who could hack or do that fancy trick other than Kate who promises she didn't touch your computer. still.. it is pretty concerning. 

After your daily classes you speak to your programming professor if he knows anything and he's helped you before but this was out of his hands. he tried helping but nothing worked so you stopped asking. 

"Y/n you have GOT to get over this!" Kate said right after closing the front door. "So what someone hacked your computer, big deal that happens to EVERYONE who gets on the professors good side because that makes people angry and bitter." She added and tossed her bag onto the couch.

"I'm sorry?" I ask back "someone knew MY NAME! not an online username, or a nickname, no MY ACTUAL NAME! and they opened that file, THE SECOND I GOT HOME! how is that NOT creepy??" I yell point to my computer, Kate was so angry I've been cooped up in my room the past few days aside from school of course- but I didn't know it made her this mad.. 

"Y/N JUST LET IT GO!" she walked closer to me, grabbed my hands and stared at me "ITS DONE! I did it okay? it was all me!" she didn't sound so convincing..

"But- you and-" 

"PLEASE STOP ASKING OKAY? I had someone else do it for me, then when you fell asleep I deleted all traces so you can't get to him. it was a prank. okay?" She looked worried now, not as mad as just a minute ago but I let it go, even if I had trouble believing her. 

"fine- Ill let it go.." I let out a stressful sigh and walk to my room, I could hear kate calling up her boyfriend G' in the other room, probably to tell him about the 'prank'.. It couldn't have been a prank right? Kate wouldn't go that far.. right? 

A week passes and I haven't seen anything from the hacker, I started to believe it really was Kate doing this up until I sat at my computer right after getting home from classes and saw the file again. this time I don't open it, and instead wait for it to open. but nothing happened? After waiting a few moments I give in and open it, it was another note.. I open the note and instead of the error message this time it said: 

"HI! I'm sorry if this is sudden- I don't normally talk to the creators this way- and I especially don't talk to the creations this way! But oh well, what are you gonna do?

For your own safety I can't tell you my name. but you can call me 'SkeleBrushBaby2019' Its my new username, Like it? Haha, I know its great :P 

OH and before I forget, I want to thank you for not chasing after that hacker, but for now. just try to keep that up- you might get some more activity regarding them soon. if you see another file. DONT. OPEN. IT. Please. anyway Ill stay in touch, I got your phone number so don't worry, I won't talk to you like this again :D -SkeleBrushBaby2019" 

Then the message deleted its self and again, no traces. but the style was all kinds of different from last time- This time it wasn't in binary code, and It actually spoke to me! Not only that- but this time the hacker wasn't acting all threatening like they usually do..weird.

I don't go after them, I don't push my luck. and instead. I buy a new laptop. I trash the old one, I throw it away in A DIFFERENT SIDE OF TOWN! and erased everything even regarding it. I had probably two hackers reach out to me in equally creepy ways and I was all around finished with this. and At first I thought it might have worked. of course that was just the child side of me talking, of course this wasn't going to work. 

While sitting down at my new laptop I saw a new file opened and I only guessed this time it wasn't the happy-go-lucky Hacker friend. this I decided to ignore. and I did. until the second file opened, and the third, and the forth, and the fifth. and THEN THEY KEPT OPENING! one after another after another, my screen was filled with files opening and closing only to make room for more to open, all of them only containing one tiny note. and a program that I'm guessing they want me to run which I'm not dumb enough to do. I closed my laptop, powered it off and left the room, my heart racing from what I just saw and I had no intentions of looking for the source of all of those files.. Kate then walked in, just in time too. to see my panicked face. 

"wh- Y/n? what happened?" she walked up to me and I explained what happened, Her face resembled what I imagine mine looked like when she walked in. "why- I swear this wasn't me..."

"I know.." I mumble and curl up on the couch, we moved to the living room since my room didn't exactly feel safe. "But why me? I- I didn't even DO anything, and now all these hackers find a huge interest in ME!!" I fight the lump growing in my throat and try not to cry,  this really had me freaked out. 

"Well- hey, me and Gerald are going out for Fro-Yo, why don't you join us? get your mind off things!" She smiled and for once I felt like maybe things weren't gonna stay crazy.

Boy was I wrong.
