The Recourse of a Moment

I worked in life with diligence,
I ne'er sought any recompense,
I sought to learn and serve others,
if only for a moment.

Their happiness was my desire,

and to help save all from hell-fire;

to call all of them my brothers,

if only for a moment.

If I perished sometime today,
walking the path, serving the Way,
I would rest knowing others laughed
if only for a moment.

I gave people moments of joy,
with comments of praise to deploy,
as listed merits of their craft,
though only for a moment.

I say this not to praise myself,
I have no trophies on a shelf,
it's a call to act for mankind,
that only lasts a moment.

Our time on Earth is short in scale,
compared to God, our actions pale,
but we must leave our mark behind,
if only for a moment.

So serve your man, and serve your God,
serve each other, not wealth or laud,
whoe'er you serve, action affects,
if only for a moment.

Know that all you do on this Earth,
Up to your death, from your first birth,
seeks your recourse and then corrects,
if only in that moment.
