Vampire's Kiss

Chapter Twelve

I turn to see a black-haired vampire with several bodyguards.

"Vel... My best agent... You've betrayed me," the leader sighs.

Vel turns to us.

"You all need to run," he says sadly.

"We aren't going to leave you behind," Dipper says.

"It's ok Dipper. Really. My life is over. Done. Gone. It's ok..."

"No. We won't-"

"Go. Please. I'll distract them," Vel says as his hands glow with magic.

"Enough wasting time," the leader's voice booms. 

Dipper frowns and says, "We aren't leaving you."

"If you're going to help me fight them, then go for The Raven. He's the leader. But be careful. He's dangerous and powerful," he says.

I nod and glare the the vampire and his agents.

I take out a stake and stab three of the vampires.

My twin and Vel take out the other two bodyguards.

Their ashes fly away in the cool breeze.

Dipper pulls out his gun and points it at The Raven, who is laughing at his own demise.

"What's so funny? Your bodyguards are dead," Dipper asks coldly.

"You! You think you're so smart... You think you're so special. You think that by killing me, you'll end this madness. You're so wrong, so stupid... This mayhem is so much more than Ferals, more than you... more than me," he says.

"What are you monsters planning..." Dipper says, voice and gun trembling.

"Something powerful... It'll give us so much power... We won't be a weak gang anymore... We will be the rulers of all vampires!" The Raven cackles.

"We're going to stop you," Mason says, pressing the gun against The Raven's forehead.

"Well... If you spare me, then we could give you all a sliver of that power... You could grow your own empire... Think about it! You'll make your wretched family accept you for who you are..." he says.

"He's just trying to bait you Mason," I say, hugging him from behind.

Dipper blinks away tears.

"I'll never stoop down to your level."

*BAM*

The silver bullet shoots through the vampire's skull.

He laughs as he bleeds, and then lays still.

His body sinks into the Earth and disappears.

Dipper drops the gun and falls to his knees.

"Bill... I'm scared..." he whimpers.

"Because...?"

"The power he offered... Just for a second... I wanted  that power. That power would've corrupted me... ...I wanted  it... just for a second..."

I hold his hand and give it a squeeze.

"You are so much stronger than that. I know it. You... You are special. You won't let power take control."

"Yeah, you're so much better than those freaks," Will adds.

"You're an idiot for thinking you're an idiot," Vel says grinning.
