Chapter 104. Missing You

I don't know if what will happen to me if I would never see her waking up again, if I would never hear her lame jokes, if I would never see how she shed tears, if I would never see her eyes sparkle.. If I would never see her sweet and bright smiles.

I can't afford to lose her, not this time.. I can't stand a chance seeing her in the middle of her deep sleep, not even moving an inch. I don't want to see her that way.

I'm such a fool that I didn't even do something to protect her! I am so stupid! A coward!

It's all my fault why Taeyeon's fighting in the operating room with her might! If I was there, she will never be in that state! I was too slow! I want to kill myself for my clumsiness and foolishness!

Jin did not realize that there's already a tear that recently escaped from his eye and his hand slowly formed into a fist. Not from afar, Jiyong is standing silently, keenly observing him as he waited for the right time to interrupt.

"It's all my fault why they've been shot! I already know the place where Cheon Yoora and her men are hiding, yet, why didn't I go there?! I was such a fool to even don't have to courage and braveness to confront them! None of this will happen if I was there to fight!" Jin exclaims on the top of his lung, releasing his full batch of tears.

"It's not your fault, Jin." I hurriedly wipe my tears using the back of my palm when I heard a familiar voice. "Jiyong.. What are you doing here?" I ask, not even looking back at him, pretending that nothing happened.

I can hear his footsteps coming to my direction. I look away when I can feel that he's staring at me, pretending that I'm looking somewhere else. "It's okay. You don't have to hide your emotions. That doesn't mean if you cry, you're not a real man. Crying is natural, Jin. It is the best way to ease the pain and let out all of your emotions." I gulp, not even having the courage to respond.

"It's not your fault, Jin. No one has to be blamed. It was by purpose. I also feel what you're feeling right now. Taeyeon is my childhood friend, it made me shock that she experienced this kind of situation. As her best friend, I don't want to see her like that because all I want for her is the best. She doesn't deserves to be in a critical condition."

Jin started to sob, "I miss her." Jiyong looks at him, quiet amused that made him gulp a lump on his throat. "I do too, Jin. All of us do."

For the whole period, we stayed like this for awhile as if we are refreshing our minds of what happened. It took for awhile for me to recover, "Thanks, Jiyong." I smiled as he tap my shoulder, "No problem. I will always be the group's comforter." I chuckle at his lame statement.

"Jin!" We both look back to find Yoon-Gi who's panting in exhaustion, who just survived from running the stairs.

He catch for his breath before he speaks up, "The results are out."

Kai's POV

We all rush when the doctor came out from the operating room. "D-doctor, how is our leader? Byun Baekhyun?" Xiumin hyung ask first. "How are my daughters?" Miss Kim ask who's with Mr. and Mrs. Jeung, and Kyungsoo.

"Choi Ah-Ree and Byun Baekhyun are all stable now. We successfully got the bullets from their bodies, they are now in their individual private wards. It will take time for them to rest to gain back their usual energy."

"How about Taeyeon? How is Kim Taeyeon, doctor?" Jin ask desperately as the doctor looks at us as if he is hesitating to tell us the news.

"We successfully got the bullet out from Miss Kim Taeyeon's upper left chest."

Operating room, 12:32 am, Third Person's POV

"This is quiet hard, doctor. The bullet is near to the heart. If we make one wrong mistake, the patient will—" The doctor did not give a chance to finish his assistant's sentence as he motion him his palm. "We have to do what we can." And he continue to do his track by getting away the bullet from Kim Taeyeon's upper left chest.

It's already late and it has been 2 hours and a half that passed yet the operation is still going on. Patients Choi Ah-Ree and the Black Pearl leader Byun Baekhyun are already in stable as they are currently on their individual private wards.

The doctor keenly and carefully tried to get the bullet from Taeyeon's chest. Alas, the doctor successfully pull out the bullet as his assistants smiled behind their surgical masks, "Job well done, everyone!" They cheered.

All was well not until the patient's heart rate become a straight line from once it was still beating. "What happened?" The doctor ask out of shock, "Doctor, the bullet's powder has spread through the patient's body. Since it was near to the heart, it got all affected which cause the body reacted in a shock." One of the doctor's assistants said while some got ready the cardioverter.

"Put it into 150." The doctor said and spread some gel on the cardioverter, caressing the pair together. "Yes, doctor!"

"Clear?"

"All clear." The doctor press the reviver to the patient but nothing has progress on the heart rate. "Clear?", "All clear."

"Clear?"

"All clear."

"Come on! Fight, Miss Kim! Clear?" The doctor said with a fighting spirit, hoping that he'll gain back the patient's life, "All clear."

Once, twice, and even thrice, nothing happened to the patient's heart rate. It became steady in a straight line. The doctor took off his surgical mask as he let out a sigh of sorrow and grief.

"We've done everything that we can. I guess.. Miss Kim Taeyeon really wanted to rest."

He glances at his wristwatch. "Time and date of death of the patient, 1:43 am in 27th of December, twenty-eighteen."
