5 ~ That Effect on Girls

Warnings- Cursing.

"Paladins. We are picking up a distress signal. The balmera will have to wait. We must help them." Said Allura. We were on our way to helping Shay and her people. I was sitting next to pidge, on the steps to the control panel.

"Sounds alright. As long as we're helping someone." I replied lazily. Hunk seemed annoyed but got over it as we started landing on the planet. When we landed we were greeted by 3 aliens.

Well, 2 aliens and 1 robot. Lance immediately started flirting with the girl, and pidge started fangirling over the robot. I rolled my eyes and chuckled. While Allura and Shiro talked to the Aliens Hunk and I got to work on fixing their broken ship.

It was weird. The thermal pipe was cracked. But everything else was FINE. If the thermal pipe was cracked the whole thing should be messed up. Plus the outside didn't have a SINGLE scratch on it. 

The girl came up to me, "hey, so you the only girl on the ship besides the princess?" She asked, I continued working but still responded.

"No. Pidge, the one in green is a girl."

"Oh, well I think you're the cutest." I paused and looked at her raising an eyebrow.

"Excuse me?"

"I said 'you're the cutest'"

Now I was flustered. Back in the Garrison I had that effect on most of the queer girls, but I hadn't been flirted on by a girl in a while.

"Um, thank you?" I said.

"So do you have a lion too? Can I see it?" She asked eagerly.

"Er, no. It's just the other 5. If you want to see someone's lion go ask lance. He seemed interested earlier."

With that she rolled her eyes and said "ugh, fine"

I carried on working as I heard a blast. I looked away to see the Blue Lion taking off and I rolled my eyes.

When I was finished I went over to the others. "Hey, I'm done." The guy smiled and said he was gonna take it out for a test run and asked the robot to come copilot for him.

Then he blasted off. After a few minutes we heard lance yelling from the coms.

"Guys? Guys! Hello?!"

Shiro picked up his helmet "Lance? Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"Well um, I'm sorta tied to a tree."

Next thing I knew we were chasing down the ship from before. I stayed in the castle though. Laying in my bedroom. Feeling Useless.

Pidge came into my room after they were done and sat at the edge of my bed. "Hey, What are you doing."

I sighed "oh ya know just laying here and Feeling Useless."

She sighed as I sat up. "Ya know, you're not completely useless. In fact- you're one of the most useful assets of the team." She said draping turning to face me so that I had my back against the wall and she sat in front of me.

"How?" I said raising an eyebrow.

"Well, for 1 you keep me sane," she said moving a little bit closer.

"You also pull Keith out of his little emoness every once in a while. Just enough that he actually stays close with the team."

She moved closer and put her hand beside my face.

We fell asleep Like this, Just laying there, and holding each other.

××××One Hour Later××××

Paladins.

We have arrived at the Balmera.

I heard Allura speak over the intercoms. Pidge sat up and pulled on her armor. I watched her sadly, wishing I could go with.

She turned to look at me. " what do you think you're doing? Get in your armor!"

"But-"

"Not Buts. You're coming with me whether you like it or not."

I smiled, "Fine."

Pidge grinned as I slipped on my armor and we headed towards the control room.

"Hello girls. Now, here's the plan." Said Allura. I listened intently as Allura spoke, telling us the plan. "Okay, everyone know what they're doing? Good. Let's go." Me and the others raced towards the Hangars and me and pidge raced towards her lion.

"Shay!" yells Hunk as he runs over to free her. when she gets free they hug.

"Hey guys! Over here! what about her?!" I ask them motioning towards the Human girl tied up.

Her Shoulder length light Brown Hair was draped infront of her face, but i could clearly see her Stormy grey eyes staring back at me. Noone noticed her except me and so i ran to her and undid her bondings.

She Slightly smiled, "thanks, for noticing me, I'm Lara." when i got a better look at her face i saw that she had a cut running over her right eye. it didn't affect her eye much but her pupil looked slightly deformed from this.

"No Problem, I'm Y/n and this is Pidge. I know what its like to be forgotten." i smiled sadly.

"Hey! i told you no more depressing thoughts. remember what i stopped you from doing earlier?" said pidge slightly annoyed.

Lara laughed and we started heading over to shay and the others. shay seemed to be placing a hand on the balmeras wall "Lara, i could use a little help here please." Shay said struggling slightly.

"Oh right! sorry Shay!" Lara said rushing over and placing her hand on the wall next to shay's.
