Chapter Three

I arrived home at two forty-five in the afternoon. School had been exhausting and I had a whole entire pile of homework to do. I made my way up to my room, passing by the kitchen and going up the stairs. My mom was at work as she always was. She worked from seven in the morning to seven at night most days.

I pulled my binders out of my bag and then my books. Setting them on the bed, I plopped down and crossed my legs. I glanced at my phone and then set an alarm. Everyone was meeting up at the bowling alley at six. That meant I had at least two hours to do homework before I had to get ready.

I started with my history homework. Yes, on the first day of school we had homework. I scowled and began filling in the answers on the paper. We were learning about history from the 1900s to now. It wasn't a very interesting subject if you ask me.

I spent a good half hour on the papers for history class. Then I moved on to math, which was my least favorite subject. The class was Algebra II, and I always had a hard time remembering the equations. It took me an hour to do that subject. By the time I was finished with my Algebra II homework, I was ready to take a nap.

What can I say? I love naps.

I only had one subject left that had homework. That was my English class, and I was happy to do it. We had to read three chapters of a story and then write a one page summary on it. English is my favorite subject, especially when it comes to reading and writing.

I wrote a two page summary instead of one page. Sometimes it was easy for me to write and I found myself writing more than was needed. I ended the summary with a question that had been on my mind since I had read the first three chapters. It made me want to read ahead, but I didn't because I was out of time.

My alarm went off signaling it was five o'clock and I climbed off of my bed. I started shoving my books and binders into my bag. Once my bed was clean, I made my way into the bathroom that was attached to my bedroom.

I pulled my straight hair into a messy bun and put on a headband. I pulled the bottom drawer open and began pulling out makeup. I started with my foundation, which was a light shade to match my pale skin. I patted the foundation onto my face with a sponge, taking my time to blend down my neck.

Next, I moved onto my eye shadow. I pulled a couple of brushes out of my brush holder and then opened one of my pallets. I started with a base color. I spread white across my eyelids to make it easier for the next color to blend. Then I dabbed my brush into a deep red and blended it into my crease. I mixed my cool tone brown to the red to deepen the crease. Then I finished with a shimmery shade of red on the lid itself.

Once I had finished my eye shadow, I pulled out my liquid liner. I took my time drawing the winged eyeliner onto my lid. One mistake and I would have to start over. My hands practically shook as I tried to finish up the last of the eyeliner.

When I finished the eyeliner I put it away and pulled out my contour. I put the dark color underneath my cheekbones, around my jawline and at the top of my forehead. I added some light concealer and then began to blend.

Once it was all blended I ran my brush thorough powdered blush. I tapped the blush onto my cheeks, going slightly up my cheekbone. Closing the blush, I put it back into the container that I kept my makeup in. I looked in the mirror and decided whether or not I should wear lipstick.

I decided to go with a light red lipstick that just gave a little bit of color to my lips. I stared into the mirror for a second before undoing my hair and pulling off the headband. I plugged in my straightener and waited for it to heat up.
