"Ok team, pick a buddy and find a room!" The head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs says to the guys and they chatter among themselves while trying to find their usual road trip buddy. You, however, stood silently in the middle of the lobby of the expensive hotel. Being the only female journalist to travel with the team definitely had its perks. You usually got a room to yourself.

"Oh, crap." The coach mumbled to himself while walking to the front desk. Following him, you sat on a velvet couch nearest the counter so you could hear the conversation without being accused of eavesdropping.

"There must be a mistake, I think we're short a room." The man explained to the poor soul who was working. This caught your attention, you definitely weren't about to sleep in your rental car, so he can work something out, right? You bargain with yourself.

"I'm sorry, sir. We are completely booked tonight. There's nothing I can do." The worker informs him. The coach walks away with his eyes glued to the paper as if trying to look for something that he was missing.

"Well, it looks like someone is going to have to share a room with (Y/N). The rooms are too small to fit three guys into one." The man addressed the team while giving you a pitiful look. They all looked simultaneously towards Auston Matthews, you assumed that this was because he was the only person who hadn't found a buddy yet. But little did you know, it was because the whole team knew about his huge crush on you.

"Auston will do it." Morgan Rielly blurted out, playfully hitting his friend on the arm. The group chuckled as Matthews just stood there. Slightly offended by his reaction, you lifted yourself off of the incredibly comfortable couch and strode over to one of the managers.

You grabbed a room key and your luggage and walked towards the elevators. Turning on your heels, you once again see the team staring at both you and Matthews. "I'll be in my room if anyone needs me. I'll meet you guys at breakfast at seven."

------

Moments after you claimed one of the beds and sat in the desk chair to look at your phone, you hear a knock at the door. You grunt while standing up, knowing that your roommate has arrived.

"Hey, roomie." You say to Auston while opening the room door for him.

"Listen," He begins to reply with a genuine look of fear on his face, "we couldn't get another room so if you are uncomfortable with this I would be more than happy to go sleep in the car."

"No way, you'd freeze out there." You try to assure him. "Now get your butt in here, I don't bite." He looks at you with a blank expression which slowly turns into a smile as he chuckles, realizing that you were ok with this sleeping arrangement.

You resume to your spot on the office chair flipping through the channels on the TV, trying to find a good movie. "Have you seen Harry Potter?" You ask him while he unpacks his belongings.

"Nope." He replies, throwing himself onto his bed trying to get comfy.

You look at him with your eyes wide. "You've never watched Harry Potter! Are you serious."

"Dead serious." He responds to your comment while throwing his hands in the air.

"Well, that's about to change." You added while turning on the first movie.

------

Two movies and three bags of popcorn later, the two of you decided that it would be a good idea to stop binge-watching and get some sleep. "So what did you think of the movies" You murmured while trying to find a comfortable sleeping position.

"I thought they were great, that Voldemort guy is really creeping me out though" He replies, turning off the lights.

"Haha, I just can't believe you've never seen the movies before. They were crazy popular when I was a kid." You stated.

"I guess I just never had an interest in them until now." He replies, staring up at the ceiling. "We need to have more movie nights so we can finish the rest of the series." He adds, trying to insinuate that he enjoys spending time with you.

"Definitely! I'll bring the popcorn!" You respond, unable to see the blush that is creeping onto his cheeks in the darkness of the room.

------

The two of you continued the conversation until one in the morning, enjoying each other's company. You had learned a lot about each other, including favorite colors, foods, animals, and even secrets about the other guys on the team.

But not even thirty minutes after you both fell asleep, Auston woke up to the sound of your chattering teeth. He noticed how cold and dry the air around his was, which sent shivers down his spine.

"Hey Matthews, are you cold or is it just me?" You ask after hearing him shift under the covers.

"It's not just you, I'm freezing over here." He confirms. You get out of your bed still wrapped in your white comforter.

Checking the thermostat, you realize that it is broken and your suspicions are true. "Thermostats broke." You grunt while hitting it a few times with the palm of your hand as if that would fix it. He gets out of bed and turns on the light so he doesn't trip over anything. You can't help but notice how adorable he looks with bedhead.

He inspects the device closely and presses a few buttons. His futile attempts amuse you and you sit down on the end of his bed. "Well," You whined. "It looks like you're just going to have to warm me up." You say while relaxing in his bed. He laughs until he realizes that you are completely serious.

You crawl under the sheets of his bed and try to find a comfortable sleeping position. "(Y/N), are you sure." He muttered.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" You insisted while patting his side of the bed, inviting him to lay down.

He lays down and is as stiff as a board, trying not to touch you. You both fall asleep within minutes finding comfort in the fluffy blankets that surrounded you.

------

Your eyes flutter open and see the sunlight that is spilling into the room. The harsh cold air stings your nose and you find yourself moving deeper under the covers. As soon as you shift your body, you realize that Auston's arm is draped over your body and he is spooning you.

He wakes up at your sudden movement makes eye contact, both of you refusing to move. You look at the clock on the bedside table next to you and see that you both missed breakfast and you knew the team would come looking for you.

"Looks like we're just going to have to eat popcorn for breakfast." He smiles while his attention goes to the sudden knocking at the door.

"Wake up sleepy heads." Morgan Reilly says while bursting into the room. He stops walking and blankly stares at you too, taking his phone out of his pocket to take as many pictures as possible.
