(AN- I started to miss Green Lantern the animated series, so I decided to make this little one shot just for the great show that ended. ^_^)
"I do not love you...at all. I cannot."
Hinata stared at the pinkette's back with her pale white eyes as everything stopped in that moment. If Hinata could breathe, her breath would have been caught in her throat. Had she not heard Sakura correct? Sakura had held her gently. Tried urgently to get her back to the ship before she had left her armour behind after the Anti-monitor's attack. She had said it as the A.I had been severely damaged. Hinata spoke softly.
"That is not consistent with your actions and what you stated recently..."
Her memory banks played the words from the time she had been injured and the way Sakura had acted around her. Was Hinata wrong? From what she could remember, the pink haired female had surely meant those words. It was not like the red to not mean them. Her brows furrowed as she tried to gain more information to understand why the words were being retracted. Her thought processors were shortly cut off by Sakura's soft voice that stuttered.
"I..I believe I was confused because of the form you have taken. I thought...believed that I was feeling love." The red lantern paused as she turned slightly toward Hinata. Sakura spoke more clearly with pain etched in her voice. "And if I did, it is not for you, it's for the memory of my dearly beloved. YOU may have built yourself in her image but you are not HER."
Hinata's eyes grew large while Sakura explained why she had been confused and painful jolts shot up in her systems. She knew that using Sakura's dead wife was an invasion of privacy yet Hinata already told her that she didn't mean any harm. Hadn't Sakura told her she didn't need to change the form? The previous words replayed and those painful jolts had not stopped shooting in her chest repeatedly.
Sakura looked straight at Hinata's pearl like eyes with a pained expression. Hinata couldn't understand why the pink haired female looked at her with such a face, however, it seemed like Hinata had almost stopped working completely.
She wished she had when Sakura spoke once again. Like hammering the nail in the works as one would put it.
"You are just a machine...and I can never love you...I'm so sorry."
Sakura had departed to join the others to be prepared to fight the Manhunter army that would attack them soon. Hinata did not leave immediately to follow the pink haired woman. She stood frozen in the same place, her expression a mix of hurt and shock. Lost. She had lost all ability to move. The sentence played again in her memory banks. She had not known the cause of her sudden paralysis before but it started to make sense.Hinata whispered to herself.
"Processing..."
Sakura did not love her. She was confused and yet some part of her, the little microscopic parts that shot and fired inside of her robot form were still unsettled by this. That wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. She was so close to that feeling yet it got even further away from her grasp.
'You are just a machine. And I can never love you.'
Hinata was wrestling her own thoughts as she became more unsettled and upset by this. A small wet drop fell from her eyes as it all began to sink down. Sakura didn't love her. Sakura only loved the memory of the form. Sakura didn't love her. Didn't need her.
"Processing..."
Sakura didn't love her...
'You...are just...a machine...'
"Processing..."
'And I can never...'
"Processing...."
'Love you
But Hinata's feelings were left to just waste away in an endless, painful process with nowhere to go and no way to stop. Her lips wobbled slightly as she was left with Sakura's rejection once again.
"Processing....."
