I walked outside, noticing a big black truck in front of my neighbor's house. I stood staring when a big man came up and snatched me from the porch of my house. Staying limp, I let him carry me to the truck but instead of putting me in the back seat, he brought me to the attached trailer. The doors whipped open and I was faced with around 20 other girls. The thing that stood out the most, was the fact none of the girls even seemed fazed by the fact they were currently being held as prisoners in a strange man's vehicle. I was thrown into the trailer and the doors slammed shut. We began to move and would stop every so often to pick up more girls. Finally, I got fed up and left the trailer. It was way too easy in my opinion. I walked and came across a campground where my parents were.
"Oh, there she is," Father stated.
My mother rushed up to me with a worried expression. But as soon as she did, I felt myself being dragged back to where the trailer was waiting. I was put back with the other girls who had seemed to double in the short amount of time I was gone. One by one, the girls would be brought to the front of the vehicle and ether come back with a baby or not come back at all. Finally, I was brought back.
*****Ambers pov
I woke with a start, having to take a moment to come back to reality.
"What the fuck.." I groan stretching out on my bed.
Grabbing my phone from its current sitting place on my bedside table. I check the time and groan again, 6:30 am. Sliding off the bed, I grudgingly make my way to the bathroom, yanking my clothes off in the process. Turning the knob in the shower, warm water started to shoot out. I carefully step in, knowing I could very well slip and fall flat on my face. Quickly I wash my hair and body, trying not to notice all the scars scattered on my body. Turning the shower off, I wrap a towel around myself. Stepping in front of the mirror, I look at my reflection, noticing all the imperfections on my face. Bags under my eyes, a small, almost unnoticeable scar above my lip, my slightly undefined cheekbones. I sigh heavily, I gave up a long time ago trying to make myself feel better about my appearance. Walking back into my room, I debate on dressing up or not. Mother would want me to, "First impressions are everything!" I mentally roll my eyes as I remember what we discussed last night about the move I would be doing alone. Making up my mind, I pull an oversized hoodie on and slip into a pair of underwear and black leggings. Taking the towel that was now resting around my feet, I start to try and dry my dripping hair. Once I'm slightly satisfied, I look towards the mirror hanging on my closet door and look myself over.
"Terrible as always," I mutter turning away "better get packing I guess."
—time skip—
It's been about 2 and a half hours of packing and I'm finally finished. I stretch my back, feeling and hearing it crack in the process. I grab my two suitcases, one filled with a bunch of books and paintings of mine, the other filled with clothes. I also have a duffle bag, but it was filled with clothes and other necessities. Lugging them out of my room and down the stairs, I hear my parents talking in the kitchen.
"I wonder if she will be okay.." I hear mother whimper, "she didn't really ever have a pleasant experience at her school and after what she tried to do... I'm worried this might not help her." I could hear the waver in her voice, she was on the verge of crying.
"She'll be fine Barbera. She is going to have your sister nearby anyway." My father was a lot calmer than mom, though I still knew he would break down when I was finally gone.
Having heard enough, I set my things down by the steps and walked into the kitchen. Upon seeing my arrival, my mom wiped at her eyes, trying to rid herself of the few tears that managed to fall from her eyes.
"You ready to go kiddo?" Asked Dad as he made his way over to me.
"Yeah, just thought I'd come and say goodbye first." Stiffly I walk towards my mom and hug her, then proceed to hug my dad in the process. I've never really been the one for showing affection.
"You'll call every day, right sweetheart?" I hear my mother ask in a wobbly voice.
"Yes, mother" I soften my voice, "I promise to call every day if not every other."
"Thank you, honey." Mom comes up and hugs me tightly. Her hug used to make me feel so much better, but times are different now. I glanced over towards dad who was still over by the door. His eyes were a storm of sadness and regret. I knew he felt it was his fault I am how I am, but it was never his, nor my mothers. I'm finally released from my mother's grasp. I walk back towards dad and hug him again.
"I'll be fine dad, and I promise it was never your fault or anyone else's." I feel something wet fall onto my neck and immediately knew he had started to cry. I rub his back for a minute and let him go. His eyes are red and puffy from his crying and I feel guilty for it.
"I should get going," I stated in a monotone voice, cutting off any emotion that tries to come through.
"Be safe bug." I hear dad whisper, using a nickname from back when I was a child.
I grab my stuff from by the stairs and without looking back, walk to the front door. I step outside and put everything into my car. Going back to the driver's seat, I take one last look at the house I grew up in. Letting a lone tear slip out, I start the engine and pull out of the driveway.
"Time for a two-hour drive."
Authors Note:
Hey guys! I hope this chapter was ok for my first one. I was unsure on how long to make it, so I settled with a little over a thousand words. I'm quite nervous to start this story seeing as I actually relate a ton to this character in certain ways which will be more established in future chapters. But I can't wait to develop this story more bring these characters to life. Thank you for clicking on this story and giving it a shot!
I also must dedicate the dream at the beginning of the story to one of my dearest friends who dreamed about being kidnapped. So thanks to her! I will see you all in the next chapter!
