i watch as two little birds soar
chasing after a tail feather
as you chased after my tail feather
and i yours
and a feather dropped
gently
and permission was granted to receive
the feather by one
but not to share
but it was shared
and the feather was passed
and i was left bare,
a one time tail-chasing was left to scar
and brand
