A/N: Hello everyone! This is a story idea that has been building for a long time, it will end up being a series of three books (if all goes well). Now, this first chapter may be slightly confusing but stick with it. Everything will be explained! If you have a question feel free to comment or to message me! Up above is Solandis! The next chapter I'll post a picture of her twin brother William!
Today. Today was finally the day Solandis Donovan would have to leave her home and be sent to Harmony. Normally Solandis didn't mind a little adventure, but the scary part about this particular adventure is that there was a possibility she would never be back. That was the thing about how the paranormal world worked.
Paranormals didn't get the luxury to stay with their families if they wanted to. Paranormals also didn't get the chance to choose where they would be and what they would be doing for the rest of their lives. Humans had it so much better in Solandis' opinion. Her spirit was too free, too idealistic for the world she had been cast in.
Seeing her mother's face soaked in tears pulled Solandis from her 'woe is me' thoughts. As much as she wanted to, she knew that if she started crying with her mom things would get a lot worse for both of them. So she sucked in a deep breath and put a strained smile on her face, trying desperately to reassure her mother. Solandis was pretty sure she was doing a shit job at it.
"Mama, look at me," Solandis whispered as she wiped the tears from her poor mother's face and lifted her chin up. "You raised me well. You made me a strong woman. Harmony is a good thing, I'll find my place in the world. It'll lead me to my mate eventually. You know what it's like, you've been in the exact situation I am in. You gave me everything I needed to go off into the world, so let me go. Who knows, maybe I'll come back if we're lucky."
"I love you Solandis. That's why I'm not sure I can let you go. You are my delicate flower, as soon as you were born I knew you were my precious flower, too delicate for the challenges of the world." her mother told her.
Solandis couldn't help but let out a little chuckle, "I cannot say you are wrong, but what did you do? You didn't treat me like a delicate flower, always protecting me. You gave me the skills to protect myself. I used to be a delicate flower who nearly crumbled under the softest winds. Now? Now, I am that same delicate flower, but with an iron fence around it. Impenetrable from the outside."
That's when her mother gave a little laugh in response, "See that's the thing about you. Somehow you always know the right thing to say. I know Harmony will be good for you. There is so much more for you to figure out about yourself and your life. The school will make all clear. I'd be lying if I told you I won't be sitting here every day waiting and hoping for you to come back to me."
"I love you mama," Solandis said as she wrapped her mother in the tightest hug she had ever given the woman in her life.
Solandis turned around to see her twin brother William fighting his own tears. She knew they had said their goodbyes before she had come downstairs. That's when they heard the knock. This meant there was somebody here to take them to Harmony, it was real. There was no more escaping reality and William went to open the door, his hands were shaking so bad Solandis could see it from across the room.
Once the door was opened and William stepped out of the way three big men dressed in all back walked in. All three of them were werewolf according to their scent. Even looking at them it would take an idiot not to figure that out. The three men were in a triangle formation, one of them taking the lead and the rest on either side slightly behind him.
"We are here to take William Donovan and Solandis Donovan to Harmony, the school of discovery for paranormal beings." the werewolf in front spoke.
