I'm sorry (Lance and Reader) (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 AU)

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 for the first time and....may I say the ending brought me to tears *sobs*

*sniffs and wipes tears* a-anyway, this is angst so get ready, and also it's an 'and Reader' cause I felt like making a more platonic thing, something other than just 'x Reader's 😁

By the way, if you expected it to be JUST LIKE GOTG Vol. II then you're sorely mistaken, cause my brain isn't the best at remembering most details, the lines aren't the same, most will be made up anyways....

"I ain't done anything right in my life...I...", I tell Shiro as Lance's apparent father, Ego (author: couldn't think of anything else) is currently being distracted from killing us all

"(Y/N)....no please-"

"Shiro, look at me boy, do I look like I'm going back with this choice?", my worn out eyes were stressed in his own

He sighed shakily, young Coran on his shoulder looked with worried eyes as Shiro handed me two devices. One helped with breathing, the other will help to fly off this horrid place

"I only have one of each...."

My frown quickly morphed into a grin, I nod

"Thank you....", I take the devices

"I am a gorgeous man", Coran says

I smile

"What he say!?", I shout

"He says he'll miss you!", Shiro smiles and whisper to him

"I'll miss you too, tree! You too, take care of everyone!", I yell to Shiro as he was a little farther than before

"Yeah, yeah, I will! Good luck, (Y/N)!", he smiles

I do a small salute, he bites his lip but smiles back and flies off

Third POV

Shiro lands in the ship

"Shiro! Wait, where's Lance?", Pidge asks

Shiro stayed silent

"Shiro, what's going on?", Hunk asks

Keith grins and jumps down from the upper floor

"Shiro! Ah, Coran, where's Lance?", Keith smiles

Allura notices his silence and looks at Coran for confirmation, and sure enough, from his look, something was wrong.

"You didn't....", Allura puts a hand on her mouth

Shiro lets his head hang, the tears that streamed down his face could be quite prominent, as it slowly dripped on the floor.

"I am a gorgeous man....", Coran says sadly

Keith clenches his fist

Pidge gets her weapon

"Why'd you do that?! He's going to die!", her tears could be seen, she strides to the exit only to be electrocuted

Keith and Hunk did the same as Pidge, only to be struck down the same way Pidge was.

Allura sinks to her knees

Time skip (after Lance defeated his father)

Lance floats, gravity was no longer needed, he thought he was going to die there for good

Until (Y/N) swooped in, in a nick of time to hostler him up to the ship, that was already out of the atmosphere of the planet.

"(Y/N)?", Lance asks tiredly

"Hey son", they smile

"What...what?", he looks around, he looks down and laughs

"Hahah! Hell yeah! Finally that jerk is gone!"

"I'm....proud"

As soon as they say that, Lance looks at them and gives them the brightest smile he could give, this was the first time they've ever said it aloud.

Lance and (Y/N) were already near the atmosphere, Lance looked at them suspiciously. (Y/N) smiles and takes off the holo helmet, and places it on Lance.

"NO! DON'T DO THIS!"

His eyes widened, (Y/N) hugged him lightly, cause they didn't want to be hard to have their body be taken off Lance.

"(Y/N)! NO! No, no, no, no"

He physically sees their face freeze, he screams their name.

"THE UNIVERSE HAS TAKEN SO MUCH FROM ME! PLEASE-please, please, oh gosh, no, please, please....please....", he cries

Small time skip

As soon as they spot Lance and (Y/N), they let them aboard.....

Shiro looks away, as Lance carries (Y/N)'s body in his arms, crying a river. He sinks to his knees, looks up to everyone with pleading eyes, hoping they'd do something, as if they could resurrect
(Y/N).

"They died...because of me...", he looks down at their body

"I'm so sorry you wasted your life...on me of everyone....", he rocks back and forth

"Lance....let's make 'em a proper funeral", Pidge says gently

Hunk and Keith help Lance up, Allura, Shiro and Coran follow

Another small time skip

"(Y/N) was, um....the best and only parent I would ever ask for, granted they could've eaten me instead but...", Lance clears his throat from his sobs

"They...t-they gave their life for me...but, what I've learned was that....something you've been looking for, for all your life...was with you all along...."

The others look at him shocked, he's just never been that emotional, to the point he admits something they thought he never will.

As they finish their words, they slide (Y/N), who's on a small platform, into an incinerator, slowly watching their body disintegrate.

A few minutes after, multiple ships appear out of no where. Lance and the others look outside, some were shocked, others confused, those were the ships (Y/N)'s group had.

"No way...", Hunk starts

"They did...", Allura slowly grins

"Hell yeah!", Keith yells then placing his fist over his heart

Everybody starts cheering, happy.

Lance simply smiles, "Hope you're watching over us (Y/N), cause we sure as hell can't take care of ourselves...."
