“Wow!” Stella exclaims after arriving from work and seeing their new appliance.
“Where did this come from?” she asks the busy girls making cupcakes looking exhausted from baking.
“Hi Mrs. Richardson!” as she walks towards Stella.
“Well… We got a huge deal and we bought that from the down payment from our customer!”
“That must be some real down payment!”
“3,500 dollars!”
Stella’s eyes gleams from delight.
“Congratulations girls!”
“Yes and our target is to make five hundred cupcakes today”
“Five hundred? That’s an awfully huge amount!”
“Yes, we need to make a thousand in two days so I’m going to have to apologize if we will be making a lot of noise in your home”
“You girls are really determined! Well I want to help!”
Priya hugs Stella from relief.
“We could really use a third hand! Thank you so much!”
Stella starts making coffee for the three of them. Hours have passed and they are still enjoying whisking and baking. Luna watches her mom and best friend while thinking about her sister.
I wish Sandra was here. It would be much more fun to share this moment with my sister
Ten hours have passed and the girls have accidentally dozed off. Stella looks at the poor hard working girls and admires their perseverance. She continues the girls’ work while they are sleeping. The house is filled with a sugary aroma from the biggest business deal that the girls have closed.
Priya suddenly wakes up anxiously after five hours of unconsciousness.
“Luna!” she exclaims while tapping her best friend’s cheek.
“Wake up! We have a lot of left to make”
“Oh my god!” Luna screams.
“I’m so sorry!”
They are both surprised by seeing a lot of cupcakes done and they check on Stella but she is already out to work.
“Aww babes your mom is so nice! She’s super!”
“She is indeed. I’m going to buy her a gift after all this chaos”
“Count me in!” Priya agrees.
It is a matter of hours up until their deadline and the girls are being consumed with exhaustion. They keep working for their dream and plans on living through coffee for the rest of the day. After hours of non-stop and grueling work
“Finally!” Priya says with a tone of happiness.
They exchange smiles from satisfaction. Luna goes to her computer to send an email to Clara to tell her that the cupcakes are ready and asks where to bring them. Minutes later, Clara says that she will pick it up with her maid. The girls are relieved.
“Oh gosh babes! That Clara girl is really nice! It’s a good idea because we can’t carry a thousand cupcakes to the subway!” Priya says.
An hour later, a limousine arrives. Priya and Luna both peek from the house and a blonde and very beautiful woman around their same age comes out. She is wearing a bright pink blazer and a frilly white dress. Her legs are very long and her blonde hair is twisted in big round curls. She looks like a beautiful Barbie doll. The girls quickly hide behind the door when they saw her approach the doorstep.
“Hey!!! OMG I’m just soooo excited!” the girl says with a Valley girl accent.
“By the way I’m Clara Wellington”
“I’m Luna!”
“I’m Priya!”
“I’m just so glad that you girls are able to make everything happen! I’m going to have a sorority party and people from Park Avenue are judgmental so I need to serve them only the best! I just love how your Blueberry Cupcakes taste like! They’re simply heavenly!”
“Oh thank you so much mam” Luna says in a humble tone.
Clara calls her maid and soon after, the maid comes out from the limousine with a rolling table. Priya and Luna walk towards the maid to help her transfer the cupcakes to the limousine while Clara busily plays with her mobile phone. Minutes after they successfully transferred everything, Clara hands them the remaining seven thousand dollars.
“Alright girls! I’m outtie! I’m definitely going to recommend your store to my friends! Don’t forget me when you girls become popular. Make me your model! Ciao” the girls smile as the perky blonde walks away with her clacking pink stilettos.
“She is so nice babes!” Priya says with glee. Luna nods in agreement.
“Sooo…”
Luna looks intrigued.
“What should our next plan be?” Priya asks.
“Well, I was thinking of looking at a commercial place to rent just around the neighborhood… What do you say?” Luna explains as her eyes are gleaming.
Priya winks at her and they travel around the neighborhood to start their quest. Luna suggests that they should eat and celebrate before they start to do anything work-related and they chose a diner close enough to Luna’s home. Priya is devouring her burger while Luna is blankly staring at the French fry on her hand.
I miss you… Please let me know if you’re safe. I’d greatly appreciate even a single email
Priya takes the French fry from Luna’s hand and eats it.
“Babes, if you’re just gonna stare at your food I’m going to finish it for you” she quips.
Luna smiles and takes a bite from Priya’s burger. The girls laugh at each other’s silliness.
Two weeks after, Priya and Luna are waiting outside their new bake shop to cut the ribbon. A few people attended, mostly Luna and Priya’s family. The best friends are wearing matching white dresses and pink aprons.
“Ready?!” Priya says excitingly.
“Three, two, one!” they both cut the ribbon and the crowd applauds. They enter their bakeshop and it is as beautiful as they planned it to be. The décor looks very feminine and dainty. The walls are decorated with silver cupcake etchings and the chairs are inspired by princess doll houses. Two young entrepreneurs are born and their future looks brightly ahead of them.
This is our dream and I’ll do my best to give my all out of this opportunity. I just hope that my sister and Marcus can celebrate this special day with us…
