Olivia's POV

I took one final glance around the house that I had made so many memories over the past 15 years. Today was the day, the day that I left everything I loved back home. Dad had just gotten a job offer in Australia, of course he had to take it. I was so excited to travel to the other side of the world but, that meant leaving my best friends behind.

"Olivia! Let's go, we're going to miss our flight!" Mom called from outside.

Well, this is goodbye... I thought.I quickly laced up my black high top converse and got into our car, heading to the airport.

*On the plane*

I plugged my ear buds into my Iphone 4S and started to play One Direction, any one of their songs could lift my mood up in a heartbeat. This was going to be a long ride, 20 hours to be exact. I placed my cheetah print neck pillow behind my head and pulled my hood up over my dark brown hair, drowning out anything that the flight attendant had to say.

My eyes started to feel heavy and the last song I remember hearing was Don't Forget Where You Belong.

...

"Sweetie, wake up!" I heard my mom say as she lightly shook me. My eyes flutter open as I take out my earbuds.

The Nirvana song faded away, as my I peaked out the window. It was a bright and sunny day, unlike the cloudy, gray skies of New Jersey. My family and I had gotten into the airport, currently waiting for our baggage to come out of the carousel. It was taking forever, while we were waiting, I thought I might check in with some of my friends back in the US. I quickly pulled out my phone from my back pocket and dialed my friend Julia.

"Hello?" Julia said groggily, It must've been late at night for her.

"Hey there! Just got in Australia, just wanted to let you know I miss you already." I said with a hint of sadness in my voice,

"Dude, you know it's like 3 AM here and I have to go to school tomorrow?!" Julia replied.

"Oh shoot, I forgot about those damn time zones. Also, you're not even sad that I'm already gone wow." I said sarcastically.

"You know I miss you, you big bloke!" she said giggling.

"Well, you should probably get back to sleep."

"You're right, I'll call you when I get the chance. Geometry class isn't going to be the same without you." Julia said.

"Goodnight Julia, tell our math class I said hi!" I hung up the phone and sighed, I really would miss home.

Before I knew it our bags finally came out, and we were now headed to our new house in West Sydney. Australia was a strange place, driving on the other side of the road, the heat, and everyone with cool accents.

"We're here!" My dad exclaimed as he got out of the light blue minivan to unload the car.

"The moving stuff should be here soon." My mom shouted over to my dad who was currently carrying three suitcases into the house.

I took a good look at the exterior of the house, it was fairly large with a nice pool in the backyard.

"Olivia, help out here!" My dad shouted as I still sat in the car. I got up and started open the trunk and grabbed my jet black suitcase and my dark purple duffel bag out, when I noticed someone out of the corner of my eye. I took a step trying to spot the stranger, and all of the sudden I tripped over the concrete and landed straight on my face.

How freaking embarrassing... I thought, thank god no one was there to see that...at least I thought no one saw.

"Ya need help there?" A voice with thick australian accent said.

"Yea, if you don't mind." I said, wiping my hands on my Blink-182 shirt and, collecting my bags.

I looked up at the boy who seemed like he was my age. He was very tall and lanky with the most amazing blonde fringe I had ever seen. But the one thing that I had taken notice of first was his bright blue eyes. I couldn't take my eyes off of him, he looked so interesting.

"Take a picture it will last longer" The boy said with a chuckle, as he picked up my purple duffel bag.

"Oh, thanks...I'm Olivia." I said with a smile, man I was really making a bad first impression on this guy.

"Luke." He replied as I lead him in the house.

"Olivia, please make yourself useful and-Oh, who's this?" My dad spoke as he eyed up the lanky blonde boy standing in our foyer.

"This is Luke, I just met him." I said, Luke dropped the duffel bag and reached out to shake my dad's hand.

"Nice to meet you sir, I live right next door." Luke said with a smile.

"Well that's great, finally Olivia you made a friend!" My dad said laughing. Great, now Luke probably thinks that I am an anti-social freak!

"Yup...I'm gonna go get the rest of the bags." I said awkwardly.

"I should get going now, Great meeting you all! I'm hoping to see you again soon." Luke said, but whispered the last part to me. He walked out of the house leaving me speechless. Maybe moving to Australia wasn't such a bad thing after all...
