Cain was noble by birth if the situations were different he might have lived in a big house with servants in his possession.

If only...

Cain was the son of nation's hero, the name Eldoro attached to him was the greatest insult to that man. Cain mother was a concubine of the nation's hero, she was supposed to be just a plaything for the knight but when the news of her giving birth to a child having the blood of the hero was found out. It would lead to great disrupt in the nation. So a league of assassins who were loyal to the king was sent after the defenseless woman and child. The members who were given the task denied the proposal at first but since the order was given they had no other choice but to follow.

If this was the same case as any other in the past then Cain and his mother would have lost their lives that day but little did they know that the Gods loved them, both of them.

When the assassins reached the house that was keeping those two they found neither the mother or the child but few man and woman holding weapons, one could only come to the conclusion that they knew of assassins coming. 'Information leak'.

The assassin who watched this from a distant wanted to laugh at them but he could not disagree with the feeling those people who were trying to save people they loved.

"We have found them and they have been immobilized."

The voice came from the shadow, if one did not have [complete night vision] or [natural sense.] they could not see them or even sense their presence, it was an assassin. The one who was watching seems to their leader.

...

The leader follows his fellow assassin into a dark alley. This alley was (in)famous for the crime that had happened in the past. Everyone knew this was a perfect place for every crime like mugging, selling illegal items, selling information and even assassination. The reason why the assassins chose this place was as clear as air.

The leader saw a woman tightly holding her baby close to her chest, the way she was dressed looked exactly like someone who is running away from the country, her clothes were that of villagers, she wore a cloak that covered her face and her body while covering her child in the same clothing. She was strongly hugging her child, her eyes showed her determination to protect the child it was fixed on the man that appeared before him, she was ready to kill and die.

The leader felt pity for the mother whose child was going to be killed by his men and after that, she will be killed too. If this wasn't an order given to him by league (royals) but from a third party client then he would have let them leave.

"Bring the child."

Those word imprinted fear into the woman's heart, she backed few steps but there was wall around her, then two men after hearing the order slowly closed the gap between them and the woman with her child.

The woman struggled but it was all useless, how can a villager stand up against highly trained assassins, it was no time when the child was taken from her and she completely immobile after one assassin punched her in her guts.

The leader held the child carefully in one hand it was not in the way that hold someone they're going to kill but someone who was compassionate. Then he slowly removed the clothing which covers its face. It was like a ritual of the assassins to see the face of every life they take as such the leader followed it. His eye went wide and without his knowledge words slip through his mouth.

"I can't kill him."

The sound was clear in the silent night each word reached into ears of each assassin like wind touching their skin. If their face wasn't covered the expression that could be seen in every assassin face would be the same, confusion.

One of the assassins came forward near their leader to see the face of the child he could not believe what he saw he knew that even if he told everyone no one will believe.

"Please let everyone see this."

The leader slowly turned the child for everyone to see, everyone was amazed at what they saw. The child that woman was carrying had bright red hair this was not common, it indicated that child was blessed by the God's, in this world the color of the hair mostly depict status or talent of individual as such finding one with hair color other than black, brown and blonde was very hard. Those who possessed them were great individuals.

"But we've been ordered to kill both of them."

The assassin who spoke was right, they were ordered by the league to kill them. Once the league tells them what to do they must follow the order no matter what. Denying would mean treason to the league by extension the nation.

"Then why don't you do it?"

Silence filled the air. Everyone here knew what it meant to slay a child of God and he or she did not want to do that, if word got out that an God's Child was killed by an assassin then the temples all around the world would march armies against the league of capital and not only the temples of the nation but every nation that worshiped the Red God, the nation would surely abandoned them. Even if they silence everyone related to this case they will still be found out by the overseer, an entity responsible to keep count of every Godly activity happening on land.

"What do we do?"

"I don't know."

Anyone would answer the same if they were asked this question; fear was the only thing they could feel at the moment. This wasn't something they can hide. No matter how many lives they take the news will reach the ears of the temple that a child with God's blessing was killed and soon they will connect it to the assassins.

"Leave them."

"What are you saying leader? If we do that we will be punished for the crime against the league order."

He was right no matter what they do they had to face death one way or the other. An assassin who cannot follow one order was as good as dead they say. Then the leader glared at the one who raised his voice.

"You can put the blame on me."

There was a little sense of relief in the eyes of the assassins as the heard their leader. The leader did not answer in this way due to his noble kindness but he believed in his logic. Losing one life is better than losing all; it was a saying that everyone assassin's league knew of. It is the logical choice to sacrifice one life to save many and many had done that, however, the possibility that they may not be satisfied with one life was still true.

In the end, they decided to leave the child and her mother alone and even helped her to get out of the country.
