According to Wikipedia, it said that donkeys are suppose to submit themselves to alpha ogres because genetics are wacka wacka boo wackow between ogres and donkeys. So since Shrek screams Alpha in every cell and hair in his body, it was no surprise how Donkey started to follow him after Shrek manifests his dominance at the Facebook soldiers.
Also, according to Wikipedia, when donkeys found their alpha, they would stop at nothing till they get their sperm and spew spew out ogre-doneyk bbys. TL;DR they go horny af but they're good at hiding it.
ALSO ACCORDING TO THE SHREK DIRECTOR, RICK ASTLEY, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE CANON UNTIL ONE OF THE KARENS IN THE FILM DECIDE TO ADD THAT HOE SO SHRONKEY DIDN'T HAPPEN.
