Runaway

That night I decided I should run away. You know get out of this orphanage. Obviously no one wants to adopt me and I don't want to be here anymore. I put all my stuff into my backpack. I've saved up 1,200 dollars over the years so I took it all with me. I grabbed some food, just chips and a water bottle. Then I wrote Carter a note. Since I loved her like a sister I couldn't bear the thought of leaving her but I had to.

"Dear Carter,

I'm going to miss you my little sunshine. Ever since the day we meet you've been like a sister to me. The thought of having to leave you behind in this place hurts me beyond belief, but I hope you understand. I can't stay here anymore knowing that no one understands. I hope you find an amazing family that will love you for you and treat you like the princess you are. I love you more then anything in the whole entire world. I'll keep you updated, Sunshine.

Love,
Lucy"

I know I could have written a better note but I'm just to upset about leaving her to even process right now. I opened the window door and looked at the ground below me.

"I'm going to find a home. I'm going to be ok. Carter will be ok. Everything will be ok." I whispered to my self before jumping off the window ledge. Since the girls hall was on the bottom floor it wasn't to far of a drop.

I slowly walked out of the bushes and onto the side walk beside the orphanage. I walked into the cold, dark night. Every step farther and farther away from the orphanage. Then all the sudden I bumped into someone. Scared out of my mind that they might mug me or steal all my money, I slowly looked up at them.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!! I'm just so clumsy and I didn't see you there." The man said. He put his hand out for me to grab and pulled me back to my feet. He had these piercing blue eyes that you couldn't help but stare at.

"What are you doing out so late at night?" The boy asked me.

"I could ask you the same. And by the way you made me crush my chips." I said looking at him. He pulled his hood down and looked at me.

"I'm Colby. And you are?"

"Not talking to strangers. Sorry, but I have to go now." I I retorted about to walk away.

"But wait I'm not a stranger!! I'm Colby Welsh!! The famous singer? I'm in a band. You don't know who I am?" he said. Oh great a stuck up guy!

"No I don't. I'm sorry but not everybody in the world knows who you are." I said, hoping to knock down his ego a few levels. Probably didn't work though since his head is so far up his butt.

"Well you do now. Now what's your name?" Colby asked.

"Lucy." I gave him the best smile I possibly could.
