Callum was pouring food into Bouncer’s bowl when Vin's mobile rang. Callum watched as the tall, gorgeous guy stepped out into the hall. He stroked Bouncers head, feeling utterly pathetic.

You haven't seen the guy for ten years. How can you still feel this way about him? Get a grip! You're pathetic, Callum Donovan!

Vin came back into the kitchen, and Callum knew his words were useless. He was still hopelessly in love with Vinny Donovan.

"I think we might have to reschedule." He said apologetically. "Sabrina was supposed to be staying at a friend's house, but Chloe's sick. So I've got to go and pick her up."

"Who's Sabrina?"

"My daughter." Said Vin.

Callum felt his heart sink like a stone.

"I forgot you've never met her. Here." Vin handed Callum his wallet, which held a photo of a beaming five year old, with startling blue eyes and fine blonde hair.

"She's gorgeous," said Callum quietly.

"Yeah, she is."

"So, do you and her mum live together? I didn't notice a wedding ring." Callum hoped the jealousy he was feeling didn’t entre his voice, but he thought it did.

"Rebecca, Sab's mum, was my girlfriend for a while in my last year of university. We got together for a few weeks. Nine months after it ended, Rebecca left Sab on my doorstep. I've been looking after her since. Becca died a couple of years ago."

"Oh…" Callum paused, feeling awkward about his sudden jealousy. "Have you… Is there anyone else? That you've… liked?"

"There were a couple of girls after Becca. One when I first joined the police. But since Sab came along, I've not really put time aside for that. You?"

"There were a few guys. No-one special though. Have you… Were there any guys? Since…"

"Since you?" Vin asked.

Callum nodded.

Vin shook his head. "You're the only guy I was ever attracted to. No-one at university ever made me feel like… There haven't been any guys."

"You should go." Callum said after an awkward pause. "Your daughter will be waiting."

Vin looked at him. "Would you like to meet her?" He asked.

Callum looked at him.

"She's always saying I need more friends. You can be proof that I have a friend."

Callum grinned and nodded. "Alright." He locked Bouncer in the hallway, where he couldn't steal food and could only do minimal damage to the furniture, and left with Vin.
