  Pov: Keith

Keith trudged down the crowded hallway, trying to avoid the mass of people standing in his way as he counted the tiles at his feet. Every step he took he got closer to his next class but with each step, he was swallowed by his peers around him. Music blasted in his ears, the bass drowning out the voices around and inside of him. People seemed to dance as he got closer, avoiding standing in his path and going out of their way to move away from him. Keith didn't mind though. In fact, he was grateful. The fewer people he had to come in contact with the better.

There were only a few rows of tiles left before Keith reached his next class. No one wanted more than him to get out of the small town they were bounded too, because of the school he called hell. As Keith walked the tiles left, 300 tiles to get to and from his class in total. The last few lyrics of his song faded into voices of the students surrounding him. When the tiles started to end he stumbled into someone. This, someone, was well-known among the students as the openly bisexual "popular boy", named Lance. Keith noticed Lance had brushed it off so he did too, but when Keith looked behind him he noticed the bulletin board. He was always looking for odd jobs to escape this horrid town. That's when he noticed the text "Babysitting" in bold at the top of the paper.

Keith ripped off one of the contact sheets and studied it thoroughly. The sheet said that they had two kids, a girl and a boy, both under 10, the number of days, and how much they were paying. Keith scanned it further intrigued by the price. Keith whipped out his phone, nobody caring about how he just used his phone during school hours and quickly typed the phone number in. Keith paused, looking back to the paper to get a name for the contact.

Alondra Mcclain. Huh. Have I heard that name before? Keith thought to himself before brushing it off. Must've had a teacher with the same last name. Before Keith he could push it the bell rang, hurrying him to his class.

Keith walked into the cafeteria, eyes heavy and his legs were weak as he made his way over to the counter, waiting in the line that had already formed. As he grabbed a tray as something hard slammed into his left shoulder causing him to stumble forward. Annoyed, he turned around ready to cuss out the person who slammed into him, as he comes face to face with Lance. Ugh, why does it have to be him.

"Oh! Dude, I'm so sorry." Lance was laughing as his group fake punched his shoulders. "Guys, cut it out!" Keith turned away from Lance, annoyed and hungry.

As Keith grabbed the milk out of the fridge on the counter, not caring about his lactose intolerance because it was the only good drink there, he slid his tray down the silver lined countertops. After grabbing a few more items Keith was at the front of the line. He looked up at the lunch lady who had her hand out, awaiting the cash.

Keith reached into his back pocket, fingers searching for the crinkled five dollar bill he had put in his pocket before he left home. Nothing. He pulled his hand out and gave the lunch lady an apologetic smile before reaching into his maroon red sweatshirt pocket. Still nothing. Keith started freaking out internally as he felt eyes fall on him and small murmurs in the line became complains about how the line stopped moving. Right before Keith gave up and went another day without eating he heard a voice pipe up next to him.

"Here. For both of ours." Keith's head shot over to the boy who spoke to realize Lance was handing the lunch lady a twenty. As she handed him his change he looked down at Keith and smiled at him with a dopey grin.

"I'll pay you back." Keith started as he and Lance walked next to each other, weaving through tables.

"Hey man, don't worry about it. Think of it was an apology for bumping into you." Lance said as he broke off from Keith, heading towards the popular table.

As Keith made his way over the table he normally sat at, he placed his tray down next to Gerard who gave him a soft smile. As his table mates indulged in the horrid school food before them and shortly after a conversation whether or not the rumor of MCR getting back together was true or not, Keith just munched on his food.

Time skip to end of school

As the final bell rang and students filed out from their classrooms Keith headed towards the parking lot to see Shiro waiting for him. Shiro smiled at and opened the door to his black buggie dramatically as if he was opening it for a princess.

As Keith crawled in the small car he reached over to close the door, the last thing he saw was Lance, posey and all, climbing into his custom-made baby blue Tesla. He was laughing with his friends as Keith kept staring, eyes wandering among the group. Lance turned his head slightly and locked eyes with Keith, the smile never leaving his face when Keith turned his attention back to Shiro.
