Real Name/Pen Name?

Danielle S. (No pen name, but I don't give my entire name)

How long have you been writing?

I started my first big writing project 3 years ago (along with Rosie), and have been writing short stories, their quality questionable, ever since.

What made you want to be a writer?

I wanted to learn as a student, as well as think more creatively, both of which writing impact.

Favorite book? On or off Wattpad, or both.

My favorite book is A Game of Thrones, because it's so good, and it isn't as inappropriate as everyone says. However, it is a time commitment.

How did you discover Wattpad?

I discovered Wattpad on a website I used to write on called Quizilla, and I just didn't like it, and saw someone from there move to here, and followed them along! Of course, my original account was deleted, and I started a new one with Rosie once we started writing Intertwined and Unexpected.

What do you do outside of Wattpad? Hobbies?

I do karate, run, as well as, during the school year, forensics (public speaking) and drama. And I love reading, naturally.

Where do you draw your inspirations from when writing? Favorite authors, music, film etc.

Usually my everyday life. Little bits of TV shows, other books, etc., and wondering what would happen if this happened instead.

I love John Green, Suzanne Collins, Sarah Dessen, Rick Riordan, Nicholas Sparks, J.K. Rowling, James Dashner, Cassandra Clare. I listen to Bastille, Mumford and Sons, the Black Keys, Ed Sheeran, Birdy, Arctic Monkeys, and Lana del Rey mostly, with some other random songs thrown in.

Who encourages you to write?

To be honest, boredom. It keeps my mind moving, it keeps me wondering. And it's just a great thing to be constantly growing in.

How do you think writing impacts your life?

It helps me in school for sure, ahaha. I guess it also makes me a more careful reader, as well as more aware of the words I chose to use in real life. But mostly, it just keeps me interested in the lives around me.

How many stories do you have?

I have two stories, one cowritten, one a short story, but I'm thinking of revisiting a story I started a bit ago.

List your stories:

- Intertwined and Unexpected (cowritten)

- Wandering (short story)

- As well as short stories in my computer that are either awful, haven't been posted here (and won't be), or are unfinished.

What do you want readers to know about your stories or writing style?

I often use too many commas, and link description sentences together in an awkward way. It's also fairly formal, even though, in real life, I would talk nothing like how I type.

What do you write about most?

Teen fiction or romance (relatable topics in a 15 year old girl's life).

How do you pick your character names?

Randomly. Whatever I feel like. Names aren't as important in books as people make them seem to be. Just pick a name.

What's your favorite genre to write? To read?

I like writing teen fiction, and love reading fantasy. I can't pull off writing it.

What do you do to get over writer's block?

I write in another story, or sit down and read a good book, or listen to a good song, or watch a good movie. Anything to keep me involved in literature. Sometimes, I just let it ride out, and wait until I can write again.

What is your favorite thing about Wattpad?

I love the clubs (for those who don't know, I'm also in the MDC, and make covers and such), and I also love the less popular stories.

What is the nicest comment you've ever received? (doesn't have to be specific)

Basically, it was someone who read through an entire story, and commented on every single part a response to the chapter, as well as thanking us for writing the story. It was so sweet, and they took the time to write out all those comments.

The Hunger Games or Divergent? Why?

Probably The Hunger Games, partially because I read it first, partially because the ending didn't rip my soul into as many pieces as Divergent did.

Any advice for other writers out there?

Keep writing! The worst thing you can do is give up. Sometimes stories don't work out, and that's fine. But pick up a new story, a new genre, add a new character, add a plot twist, keep it interesting for you to write. Don't plan every deatil, make an outline, and let the story write itself. Good luck! :)
