Your POV
On the following Monday, Tyler is not at school. And that worries you and Josh. That's because Tyler's parents ALWAYS make him go to school. If he's sick, then they always end up checking him out later in the day, but other than that, his parents will literally have multiple heart attacks if he doesn't have a perfect attendance record. And that's why you get chills when you see Josh in the band room... alone.
Something must have gone terribly wrong.

You walk up to Josh, matching the 'worried as fuck' look that he's currently wearing on his face. "Have you had any contact with him?", you ask. Josh shakes his head. You try to gulp back the gigantic boulder that seems to be forming in your throat. Josh then pulls you in for a hug. He smells like lavender, you note.

After school, and after checking in with your parents, you and Josh make your way over to Tyler's house. Josh got his car taken away for breaking his drumsticks (which were signed by some famous snare player in Santa Clara Vanguard from DCI), so you guys were walking by foot. Nothing was really said during the journey. Mostly just half-hearted mumbles, reassuring each other that he's going to be alright. You weren't used to this.
Being with Josh alone. Whenever you saw Josh, you saw Tyler. They were inseparable. Tyler was always kind of the comedic relief. But not lately.
And definitely not now. For the last few weeks, Tyler has been acting really unattached from everything. And you would give the world away in a heartbeat just for your best friend to be ok.

You guys arrive at Tyler's house, immediately impatient to get out of the freezing temperatures. You guys stand there for a good 10 seconds before you sigh at Josh. Knowing what you're thinking, he brings you in for a tight, and warm, hug. He pulls away just a little bit so he can put his forehead on yours. "Everything is gonna be okay", he says quietly.
Then you look up into his eyes, which stare back at yours without missing a beat. You blush a little bit as butterflies fly around in your stomach. He leans in. So do you. Your lips are about an inch away from each other before you both pull away quickly, both ears and cheeks glowing red. Josh gives you a knowing and worried look, with a hint of nervousness.
"We'll talk later", you say. He nods his head in agreement as you finally grow the balls to knock on the door. Almost immediately after, a very tired and very gray colored woman answers the door with a sigh. Who is this woman and what has she done with Tyler's mom?, you ask yourself in your thoughts. "Josh... Y/N... It's so good to see you guys here. You must be so worried. And, well, cold. Coffee?", she asks as you both furiously nod.
She invites you in and hangs up your jackets and seats you both on the couch in the den. "Mr. Joseph should be here any minute now.", she busily says as she sets a tray with steaming hot mugs of coffee, sugar, and creamer down on the table. You and Josh prepare your beverages as she starts to explain what happened. "This might be hard to hear...", Mrs. Joseph says. You and Josh pause mid-sip.
She nervously continues,"Tyler tried to kill himself last night.", are the last words you hear before everything goes black.
