Prologue; Who I A M/Chapter 1; Be Prepared.

Start from the beginning

"Hey Evie!" Val said, giving me a awkward one-armed hug (You try giving somebody a full hug in a booth...Doesn't work.) Which woke me from my reverie. "Hey," I replied, giving her a quick smile. Then I turned to the other people. A quick glance told me there were four of them, and my supersenses told me one of them, a guy by the name of Jared Wells, hadn't washed in about 4 or 5 days...Yeck. Jared was a blondie with a crew-cut, and intense green eyes. The other three; Myles Moody(Another guy with black, emo-ish hair and blue eyes. I knew for a fact he was bisexual, as he was an ex of mine and also still one of my best friends. I affectionately called him 'Freckled Faggot', even though he had no freckles and was only half a fag...still...), Desuna Yari (I called her Desu, because of her big, bambi-like eyes), and Karen Osmond (A tiny girl with straight red hair and green eyes. She was always really shy, and she was the only one I didn't know well.).

"...So what do you know about them?" Desuna asked, flicking her black hair over her shoulders skillfully, staring intently at Jared.

"Only that they came from Florida a few weeks ago." Jared replied, picking at his chili fries. (Yeah, they have Chili fries here...In a coffee shop. Don't ask.) "There's a lot of rumors about them."

"Who's them?" I asked, wanting to get in on the conversation.

"The new kids," Myles answered, looking at me with a quirked eyebrow. "Didn't you see them today?"

"She skipped school today, remember?" Valencia laughed. I smiled.

"So...You slept all day or something?" Myles asked suspiciously, knowing how I always had to have at least 10 hours of sleep. Or else I get really, really, really bad headaches and turn into a very mean version of Evie.

"You should have heard how much my sister was ranting on me this morning, trying to get me to take the bus." I told them. They all knew how much of a pain in the arse my sister was when it came to my 'chronic lethargy'. "So, guys, if you don't mind filling me in..." I said, but Myles was way ahead of me.

"Okay, so they're twins, right? Except they look nothing alike! And they're totally avoiding everyone, only answering to the teachers and persistent kids." Myles told me. I didn't know what was so weird about them, but everyone else obviously did. Then again, I haven't met them. "It's really weird...I can't explain it. But I know their names are Eira and Chance Lewis."

The names sparked with sudden familiarity, even though I was sure I'd never met these people before...Eira and Chance...I think they were people my mom had told me about when I was young, but I still wasn't sure. I suddenly wanted to learn more about them.

"And they came from Florida..." I thought outloud, remembering what Jared had said. "Wait a minute, who would want to move here?"

"Good question," Karen commented quietly. Calrose was a tiny town on the coast of Maine; there were tons of things that our neighboring city, Rubik, had, that our tiny town didn't.

Bahaha.

The convorsation proceeded on that note, all of us tired and worn out, even though Myles pointedly said that I had no reason to be tired. Strange.

After a while, some guy came to our table. I didn't know him by name, but I did know he worked at the Cafe'. Except he never went away.

"Excuse me, sir, can I help you?" Karen finally squeaked, after the guy repeatedly locked eyes with her.

"Would you like a refill?" He asked her, giving her a warm smile. I mentally banged my head against the table. By now, Everyone was staring at the guy and Karen. Desu gave me a look that said "OMG how cuteee!", and Val was smiling happily.
