A Burning Desire

Inez PoV:

Home Sweet Home!

A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I looked around my new surroundings.

New York!

This was home but circumstances had led me to leave it behind some years before, and looking at it now everything seemed different before my eyes.

Well it was all for the best.

I smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I put on my sunglasses before climbing down the airplane with my luggage being pulled behind me.

Just in time Inez!

I thought, upon finding our chauffeur Mark waiting beside this black Audi.He was quick to recognize me since he came striding towards me with a wide smile of welcome on his face.

That was more like the Mark I knew, all so vibrant and amicable with an easy smile always on his face.

Perhaps the only difference now was that age was catching up with him.He no longer looked like the young thirty or so years old man I had left behind.

But then,what could I expect?

It had been ten years already and that came along with lots of changes.A lot could happen in ten years.Besides,I also didn't look anything like that naive ten years old girl who woke up one morning to found her dad dead in his study.I had grown up and same went for everyone else.

Deep sadness always accompanied any thoughts of my dad and that was why I had gone from this place to live with my aunt and grandmother in England.

All these years I had kept myself busy with my studies and new family in order not to think of that fateful day.But I guessed my best hadn't been enough considering the sadness that surged through me at the mere sight of Mark and the thought of it all.

"Good afternoon Miss Ram-"

"Inez, just that please" I interrupted just as he took my bag.A smile curved his lips and he nodded at me in understanding.

"Okay Miss Inez"

There he goes again.

I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes at the man who was more than just a chauffeur to me.

Mark was like a friend and a father to me.He had been with my family through thick and thin by working as a loyal chauffeur for my parents even before my birth and if I could still remember he had also been a very good friend of my dad back in those days when I was still a kid.

That was when he always drove me in and out of school.Plus,he also acted like my personal bodyguard and even helped me with some of my homeworks whenever my parents were busy at the office.

In all,the man was like a family to me and so deserved all my maximum respect.

"How was your flight Miss Inez?" He asked concerningly, holding the door opened for me.

Ew! Miss Inez!

That sounded like His Highness to my ears and I'd have rather preferred if he had stick to the Ramirez instead.

Yes,addressing me by my surname would have been better if only I hadn't complained. But then I had,and so was going to have to cope with that for the mean time.

For now,all I needed was to get home, meet my mom whom I had been missing all these years and settle down for the next chapter of my life.

I mean the life my dad had always dreamt for me or maybe us,as a family. His every wish was for me to have a better education, come out with flying colors and help my mom rule the Ramirez's empire someday.

Strange enough,it was like the man always knew he was going to die cause he never said 'to help us' but always it was to 'help your mom' .However,as a kid I hadn't understand that.

Perhaps until now.

He was gone, and as the only heir to the Ramirez's fortune here I was back from my studies to help run the business.

I was going to make it more successful and pass it on to my children, probably a son someday as that had always been the Ramirez's legacy.

It was my turn and now that I was back,I was going to make sure I leave no stone unturned.Infact I was going to work my butts off to make every single dream of mine and that of my parents come true.

And that I promised.

The mere thought of it made me tingle with anticipation as I slid onto the backseat of the car.

Then taking off my sunglasses as Mark revved the engine,I looked out of the rolled down window at the busy streets and finally sighed...

"My flight was good Mark, but my stay here is even gonna be better"
