It has been a month and a few dates since you were shot and you are back working
"hay Connor did I miss anything" you ask wanting to catch up
"no but if you came tomorrow you would've missed the new Med students" he replies filling you in
"everyone this is the ER where if you chose emergency medicine you will be working here" Will announces as he and the med students enter
"Will, aren't you going to introduce us?" You say
"oh yes..." he says but he is cut off by a series of pager and phone beeps
"Everyone we have a mass casualty building collapse" Maggie confirms what is going on.
"anyone who can't handle stressful situations should go now before the ER gets busy," you say to the med students one takes your advice and leaves
"and follow our instructions" Will adds
two minutes later and the first ambulance has arrived
"I've got this" Will announces
"GCS 2 heart rate 80 over 60" the paramedic informs you
"get him to trauma 2," Maggie says giving the paramedics some direction.
"we need a trauma surgeon on scene," April says adding to the chaos
"I'll go" you volunteer
five minutes you've reached the scene to find a building teetering on edge of fully collapsing
"(Y/N) I need your help" Gabriella Dawson calls out drawing your attention to the triage area
"what can I do for you?" You ask as you kneel down
"make sure this man is stable" she replies indicating to a man with major head trauma. You recognise the man as your mentor Alexander Marcus.
You immediately start assessing him but you are interrupted
"(Y/N) we need you over here to perform an emergency tracheostomy" Gabriella says
"ok get a C collar and make sure his head doesn't move" you command one of the other paramedics as you go towards the other patient
"Ok have you given her epi she is having a server allergic reaction?" you say as you get a scalpel out of the trauma kit
"yes that's the first thing we did," a worried trainee paramedic says
you cut a small incision in the neck and you place a tube in it
"ok it's in and you did fine, it's not easy," you say noticing the fact that he is a trainee
After an hour on the field, all of the people have been assessed and you are heading back to Med on one of the ambulances. You are watching Alexander's ECG and you are worried because he is a long time friend and he also cared for you and your brother when your mother passed away
"(Y/N) is there anything wrong with the ECG? it's just you keep staring at it" Gabriella asks
"no it's stable" you reply
You can see he has somewhat regained consciousness. You are a little less worried but you know it's going to be a complex road to recovery.
three minutes later and you have arrived at Med and you are spouting info about the injury
"GCS five regained consciousness on the way here," you say the basic information as you get Alexander into the ED.
"trauma five just opened," Maggie says
Five minutes later you are in the staff rec room and you are twirling a pen in your fingers because you are still worried about Alexander Marcus
"hey (Y/N) you look worried" Will says noticing the pen twirling
"the man in trauma five is my mentor Alexander Marcus and he has had major head trauma with a high likely hood of stroking," you reply
"hang on he would be the doctor that looked after you after your mom died?" Will says remembering the story you told him
"yes he is the one do you think you can help?" you ask thinking that if someone helps you if anything goes wrong you won't lose yourself
