My eyes slowly begin to open, and my ringing ears make out the sound of my blaring alarm. I groan, shutting it off, but not sitting upright yet.
I could make out the sound of my family already awake, and some muffled voices as my mother was making breakfast that I wouldn't take part in. All I had to do was get through today, and I would make it to my 16th birthday tomorrow. So many things were supposed to happen tomorrow. I would be considered an adult in my pack, I would be better at controlling my shifting, and find my mate. Maybe. I'm still convinced that I'll be alone forever.
Finally standing up out of my bed, I began to get ready. I pulled on some high-rise skinny jeans and a cropped sweatshirt. My hair got thrown into a high ponytail as usual. I never knew what to do with it, and I always resorted back to the same thing. Finishing up, I headed downstairs and threw on my coat, since it was cold all day, especially at 6:30am.
I saw that the bus was already coming down the road, and I wasn't at the stop yet. I frantically shoved my feet into some shoes and grabbed my backpack, running out to my driveway and down the road.
I didn't anticipate the road to be so slippery, but it had been raining a lot lately. My feet slipped out from under me and I landed on my butt and back, wincing a bit. I still had to make it to the bus so I stood back up, getting there just before it pulled away.
My coat was large and went over my butt, so luckily that was the only thing that got wet. My lower back ached with each step to my seat, and when I sat down.
I popped in my earbuds and turned on my music, able to drown out the world for about a half an hour as I watched the dark sky through the bus window.

I was sitting in homeroom now, working on the homework I hadn't done the night before. Oops, didn't feel like it.
My mind began to wander and dance from subject to subject before landing on one: would I find my mate tomorrow? Maybe the Star Goddess didn't want me to have a mate, maybe I wasn't destined for it. But if I did, who would it be?
I shut myself off from everyone this year, and hadn't been talking to many other werewolves, let alone males. I used to be friends with Ryan last year, but ever since he found his mate he shut me out. Why couldn't we still be friends, though? Not everything is about dating.
There was Ethan and his brother, Wes. I was still friends with both of them, but we barely talked anymore, and Wes had a girlfriend. But she was only 15, so I don't know how they were dating. You couldn't find your mate before you were 16. Maybe they're destined to be mates.
I used to dream about being with Wes two years ago. Major crush. He's..a bit much now. He's slept around, not being picky with whom he's fucked around with. I stopped talking to him after that, I didn't agree with not saving yourself for your mate.
The bell rang to go to first period. Saved by the bell, cliché. I packed up my stuff and headed off, dreading tomorrow.

It was finally last period, which was gym. At least I didn't have to take gym after this year. Wes and his girlfriend Alexa were in this class. I walked into the locker room, and Wes was heading out of it. Wait- this is the girls' locker room. Why was he in here?
I walked in, seeing Alexa changing into her gym clothes, red marks littering her neck. Disgusting. Couldn't they have waited until after school? Now I have to get changed in the room where someone just fucked someone? I don't want to think about it. I changed into my clothes, staying silent.
I walked into the gym with Liz, my friend who I was grateful was in this class so we could suffer together. We were the only 2 girls in the class who haven't turned 16 yet, besides Alexa, and we weren't even that young. This class just had older people in it. The unmated boys always tried to partner with the girls younger than 16, just in case they were planned for each other. They didn't do that with Alexa, since they assumed she was 16 and found her match.
Liz and I always partnered together before anyone could get to us. It was pretty nice.
"Are you ready to find out your mate?" Liz asked me with a wink and a laugh. I rolled my eyes and laughed with her.
"More like am I ready to find out that I actually don't have a mate," I joked. She didn't like that joke and frowned slightly. "Don't be such a downer, everyone's got a mate. Do you have any feeling of who it'll be yet?" She asked.
I shook my head. "No idea, Liz. I just hope it's not a complete stranger," I said sarcastically. "I don't think I'm too excited. I don't want to move, I like my family's house. But the girl always moves in with the guy, whether they like it or not," I said with a small sigh.
"But what if it was someone who lives near me? Then I could come see you more often, oh that'd be so great," she said with a smile, and I could see her getting giddy.
"Now that doesn't sound so bad," I said with a chuckle.
Gym class carried on, we ran a few laps around the gym, and played a game of ultimate football. Nothing too difficult, it was pretty fun today actually. Wes wasn't all over Alexa either, so none of us had to witness any of their PDA. I guess they got all of that out and done with in the locker room.
Oh, please, Star Goddess, let tomorrow be a good day and let my mate accept me.
