Remember that time - Virgil x Patton

"Hey, Patton?" Virgil whispered, stroking Patton's hair from his face. The boy looked up at him expectingly, waiting for him to carry on. "Remember that time when we were kids? The time we first met?" He chuckled, feeling Patton's arms slowly wrap around his body.

"Yeah..." he responded quietly, with his own gentle, caring smile.

"I fell right in front of you because of my stupid shoe lace...I was scared you'd laugh, but you picked me up, tied the lace, held my hand and played with me in the park" Virgil pressed a kiss to his lips. "It was the best day of my life, you were my first friend, r-remember that time when-when you saved me from those bullies?" Virgil carried on quickly into another memory.

"You sacrificed yourself for me, even when we had that argument, only a week later we shared our first kiss.." Virgil shook his head, sniffling. "I really liked you, I never expected you to like me back, I'm nothing compared to you..." his breath wavered, he felt another round of tears well in his eyes as he stared at the beautiful boy.

"No, Virgil" Patton whispered, raising a hand to stroke his cheek. "You're everything"

Virgil shook his head, choking on a sob. "Remember when I first said 'I love you'? I was a nervous wreck -I-I expected you to leave m-me, never want to talk-talk to me again" Virgil stayed strong, he wasn't about to break down, not now, not yet.

"But you said it back, I've been happy ever since, being around you-it's...you make me so happy" he closed his eyes, finally letting out a wail. "Please don't leave me" he cried brokenly, cradling Patton tighter. "Please don't" He repeated, this time his voice barely above a whisper.

Patton's arms tightened as much as they could. "Virgil, I need you to do something for me" the boy leaned back and nodded his head hurriedly. "Anything, anything" he agreed instantly.

"Hold these memories" his voice wavered and cracked, removing one arm to press his hand up to Virgil's heart. "Carry them with you, remember all the good times we spent together, you don't have to forget, because I won't leave you, I'll always be with you, as long as you don't forget" Patton leaned up and kissed him gently, but he fell back into Virgil's lap moments later.

"Treasure the times we spent together, because I will too, and if you do...you'll never truly be alone" Virgil's eyes burned and his throat clogged up so much he could barely breathe. Below him, Patton relaxed completely on the ground, vision becoming hazy.

"I love you, Virgil" he whispered, "don't forget me..."

"I love you too!" Virgil replied hurriedly, staring down at his face with a watery gaze. "I won't forget you, please Patton, stay awake don't...don't go.."

When he didn't get a response, only then did the bright flashing lights blind him, the sound of sirens and screaming filled his ears, people yelling, running, gun shots in the distance shaking him to the core.

"Patton.." he whimpered, resting his forehead on his chest.

"please come back"
