I laid in bed and stared up at the ceiling just thinking about everything and nothing at the same time somehow. I wish I had a boyfriend - I don't know why I just feel like I want someone on a higher level than a friend I guess. But whatever, every guy I've been with has wanted to just get in my panties which sucks balls, cause I'd like to think that I'm more than just a hot body.

I get up and take a shower. I get dressed in grey sweat pants and a random shirt with my fluffy slippers. I walk downstairs to breakfast already done - which was great cause cooking breakfast isn't my favorite thing to do.

"Morning." I say to my dad and mom. I set up the table after they greeted me. It was summer so the weather was great today and we decided to sit outside as we all ate breakfast as a family. There were moments of silence but I wouldn't call it awkward, as we were eating after all.

Afterwards I washed the dishes and my parents were on their way to work and the siblings on their way to school. Including my little man who had started preschool this year in fact. I tell them all goodbye as they exit the door and the house becomes silent.

I'm on holiday, I'm studying literature at Standford University. Currently we are on our break for two months, so I've just been trying to keep myself busy. I should probably be studying but I'm tired of being a goody two shoes so, I shall chill.

I text Luna and ask her if she'd like to come over.

After last night I realized how much her and I had in common. Her parents had moved her away from her home town after living there her whole life two years ago. It was very difficult for her because when you're friends with the same people your whole life and then all of a sudden need to make new ones, it feels almost impossible.

I on the other hand, moved here after completing high school last year. We moved during December, my parents were tired of their "old lives" and apparently they wanted something different - so that unfortunately meant we all had to leave all our friends and family and come here. It's not bad here, I just miss familiar things - I don't like change.

I think maybe that's the biggest reason as to why I started getting "depressed." Doctors say, the main causes of depression are emotional stress and anxiety. They also say that the three most stressful things that can happen in someone's life are: losing a loved one, moving house/town or city and I can never remember the last one...

Ohhh an accident! That's the last one.

But I didn't feel stressed and I still don't but I guess that's why, stress is a silent killer. Cause you don't know you have it until it's too late sometimes.

Luna texted me back saying she was on her way with movies and ice cream - yay! I scrolled through my chats and contact list on WhatsApp - so many people who said we'd keep in touch when I left now barely even speak to me. Argh whatever I'll try to not let it get to me.

"What's up guurrrl!" I exclaim when I see her. I give her a hug and invite her into the house and leave the door.

"Hey hey," she says holding a bag with ice cream a few snacks and a hard drive in her hand.

"Let's go up to my room, we can watch the movies on my laptop. How are you today?" I ask her as we walk up the stairs.

"I'm all good and you?" She asks.

"I'm good I guess, I'm glad you're here you'll help me distract my mind from my sad sack thoughts." I say giving a small smile.

"Well I'm glad I can help." She says. I sit on my bed after getting my laptop and placing it on my bed, we sit up cross legged and I tilt the screen back so we'll still be able to see it. We decided to watch the new Jumanji and we were laughing our buts off for a good thirty minutes or so.

"Did you hear that?" I ask after hearing a clink downstairs.

"No," Luna replied and then decides to pause the movie so we could hear better. As we listen quietly we hear footsteps moving around the bottom of the house.

"It must be an intruder, no one in my family should be back yet it's only 10:25." I whisper.

I take my hockey stick and hold it behind my head like a baseball bat. I've always been the brave and selfless type, and right now all I was thinking of was: do not let Luna get hurt!

I tell her to stay in my room and I quietly walk down the stairs. "It's an intruder!" my brain mentally yells at me. There is a man wearing brown khaki pants and a bright blue shirt standing by our fridge. This bisshh was eating our damn food - "nah bruh!"

I get closer to him and the fridge, still going unnoticed and as he stands up from poking his head in the fridge. I whacked him in the head with my stick.

He fell - actually it was more like he fricken crumpled to the ground.

"Luna!" I scream for her, a little scared. "I think I killed him!"

She came running down the stairs and looked at the aged man lying on the ground in my kitchen. "Did you check his pulse?" She asked.

"You check it, I'm not touching him!" I exclaim. I look down at him, he looks and smells like he hasn't bathed in years. His beard was overgrown and he had shoulder length frizzy hair.

"Well I don't want to touch him either, you're the one who knocked him out." She said.

"I was protecting us." I said in my defence.

"Argh," I looked down and saw the man was waking up and in a quick panic hit him again and he fell back to the floor.

"Ora!"

"I'm sorry, I acted on impulse - I was scared!"  I say walking away from him, "at least we know he isn't dead right?" I say lifting my shoulders and arms up.

She face palmed herself and looked at me and just started laughing. "Okay, okay, so what do we do with him? We know he's alive now."

"Let's take him outside, splash some water on his face and ask him to leave. We'll throw a sandwich in too to apologize for hitting his head." I say smiling at the idea.

We begin to drag him outside when I realized how he got in. I forgot to lock the door when Luna came! Mental note - never do that again.

We place him on the grass and then Luna goes and gets him a sandwich and a few fruits and a glass of water to splash on his face. While I was watching him outside with my slap-happy hockey stick.

"Are you alright?" I ask as he begins to wake up again.

"Ahh, I think I might have a concussion or something but I'll be good." He says rubbing his head and sitting up. He looks around and looks at us with questioning looks then I think he put two and two together. "I'm.. a sorry I came into your house. Don't call the police please." He begged with his brown eyes.

"We won't, you didn't do much damage. Here," I say handing him the bag with a bit of food in it.

"Ah thank you, thank you!" He said vigorously shaking both our hands. He then went off on his way stuffing his face with food.

Luna and I both looked at each other and laughed and walked back inside the house and up the stairs to continue the movie.

"Woops almost forgot." I say, running down the stairs and locking the door.
