promise

Even though you promised a love that's eternal—

Traveling many miles to see our favorite pop punk bands,

Eating together our favorite poor-cooked breakfast,

Doing house chores and sharing a good laugh

I thought that "always and forever" was an assurance,

Of having our hands linked all the nights of our lives when we dance,

That the roses and the tulips would never die when fate makes us depart,

When even our love, by time, falls apart

I think that maybe we are more than just the characters of our own love story,

Maybe we are the writers too;

We started it with a nice introductory,

But you got tired and made a plot twist I have no control of

We committed time and exerted effort to our work,

To our once dream book —

We made some amazing first chapters,

 Not knowing that we are the masterpieces ourselves,

And that masterpieces will remain masterpieces

Even when someone fell out of love

And rewrites our supposed to be happy ending

Even though you promised a love that's eternal—

A love that'll forever dance in the rhythm of our favorite, now disbanded bands—

Cooking a breakfast that used to be overcooked, now doesn't taste that bad,

And even when the roses and tulips turn brown, we won't be too sad

Even though you promised a love that's eternal—

A book that's gonna end in "till death do as part";

Even though you promised a love that's eternal—

I still can't force you to still love me just because you made a vow
