Song- Symphony by Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larsson

"Catch me if you can!" Devine Bennet squealed as her best friend, Devan Valentatdor  chased her down the halls of her home. He caught her by the waist and twirled her around. "No fair!" The girl protested.

"Totally fair." The dark haired boy teased, while spinning the girl's fair locks. He watched her pink lips part slightly and her pearly white teeth escape and capture the lower of the pair. She looked up at him with smiling blue eyes. "Totally a hundred percent fair." He slowly lowered his head.

Devine's eyes widened and her heart pounded. Was Devan, her crush, going to kiss her? Her eyes fluttered and then closed. He cupped her cheek and she could feel his breath on her mouth.

"My Devine." He whispered.

"DEVINE!" Her father's voice echoed through the house. "Time for dinner."

They pair jumped apart as though they had been burned. Devan's face was a bright red and Devine smiled and glanced at the ground. She snaked her hand into his own.

"Coming daddy!" She called. Turning to Devan she pecked him on the cheek. "We had better go down stairs before they come looking."

"Devine..." He pulled her to a stop. "Do you like me?"

Her blonde brows knit together. "Yes, of course I like you dummy."

"No, D, I mean do you like like me?"

"Umm." She swallowed. He sighed.

"I get it. I should never have hoped someone like you woul-"

"Dev, stop." She firmly stated. "Of course I like you." She smiled shyly. "Why do you think I let you touch my waist or my arms or hold my hand?"

"I don't know." He mumbled, flushing.

"Do you like me?"

"Of course, Devine, no matter what happens, always remember these words: You are mine. No one else can touch you. I alone can." He said with a certainty that most 15 year old boys did not posses.

She smiled and squeezed his hand. "No matter what. Only you."

He smiled and they walked downstairs. Their parents smiled at them and they slid into their seats.

"What were you two doing?" Jenna Bennet, Devine's mother, softly prodded. "We heard giggles and screams."

"Oh just playing tag." Devine shrugged.

"Did you win?" David, Devan's father, nudged his son.

"Yep." Devan caught Devine's hand under the table. "I always win."

"That you do son, that you do." David patted his back.

"Marie, I believe you are supposed to eat all your own vegetables not feed Jadelen them." Jenna scolded Devine's 10 year old sister.

"But mom!" The girl complained. Robert, the girls's father, shot her a look. She huffed. "Fine."

Devine giggled and her sister shot her a nasty look. She smirked. The two families ate dinner and chatted about their lives.

They spent Christmas Eve together every year, but this year was different. This year Devine had found someone to spend time with someone to hopefully, eventually make her happy.

Author's Note-

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this book! It means a lot to me and I just want to give you a special thanks.

Okay, so this was the prologue, it gave a bit of their backstory but not much. The next chapter will shoot them to 2020, where Devan is deep in the Mafia and Devine is now a household name.

Here are pictures of them as 13 and 15 year old nuggets!
