HEART BROKEN

ASHLEY'S POV

I woke up groaning in pain. I lifted myself up and headed to my bathroom.

I looked at my reflection. My pale skin was covered with red and purple bruises. Though I am a werewolf I can't heal because I am 17 and have not yet shifted. Everyone can shift at 16 but I couldn't. So lucky right?

I looked at the black eye which my step-brother gave last night and cringed. He is my guardian. I know how unfortunate.

His name is Hendry. When my mom married his father he was good to me but when they both died because of Rogues he turned into a cruel person.

He used to beat me, kick me. No one knows that he tortures me. Only my friend Andrew knows about it. But he can't do anything.

You may think you can tell that to your Alpha, I can't. Because Hendry is his gamma he makes sure that no one knows that I am beaten including the Alpha.

Unlike old times we don't live in pack houses and all.We live on ourselves as families.We meet only during our run in forest. We don't go in groups or live in groups because human would find it suspicious. Humans these days can easily find out about us so we have to be careful.

I sighed and took a relaxing bath. After that I covered the bruises on my face with concelar. After wearing my outfit I looked at the mirror I was looking fine.

I went downstairs to prepare breakfast for my dear brother. Oh how would I love to stab him in his throat with a knife.

I quickly made him pancakes, placed it with Advil and water. He'll always has hangover in the morning.

After making sure I kept everything for him, I came outside the house and started walking. We have a car but I am not allowed to touch it unless it is for cleaning purpose.

My mom was was not rich at the same time not poor. She had savings which my dear step-brother is now spending in drinks. Why is my life damn tough???

I work as a waitress to save money that I may need to get away from Hendry. My life is filled with miseries.

But I have a strong belief that I'll come out of all my misery once I meet my mate who will love me, cherish me and care for me. I'll do the same for him. Shifted or not, a werewolf can sense his other half.

When I entered the University, I felt my stomach grumble. So I made my way to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was filled with students who were decorating for someone's birthday. I thought people come to University to study?

I grabbed a sandwich and started munching it while looking around the decorations.

I saw a girl with shorts and crop top ordering everyone. Who wears such short dress? Yeah I know attention seekers.

I also noticed Aiden the playboy following that girl like a lost puppy. This fellow will never change... But the girl looks young to be in university.

I came to know that this preparation is for our Golden Boy Isaac. Typical handsome,studious, sports based boy except he is not a player like Aiden. He is also An Alpha. I've heard that he is one of the best Alpha.

When it was time for my first Class, I came out of the cafeteria and entered into my class. You could say that I am a nerd. I study so that I could get a good job and get away from Hendry.

The class was boring as hell. Just because I am a nerd doesn't mean that I enjoy studying. I study because it's mandatory.

When I got out of my class, I was hit by an amazing smell. Peaches. What?  Don't judge I love peaches.

I realized that my mate is here. Finally I will have someone for me.

When I searched and found my mate, I was shocked.

It was none other than Isaac Knight, the Golden Boy, Future CEO of Knight Industries. I started to feel insecure. Will he accept me?  Will he like me?

I came out of my thoughts ,followed him but entered the cafeteria through another door. I don't want to get attention.

When everyone screamed surprise, Isaac was surprised but not happy. When he was about to cut the cake, Aiden stopped him and that girl came from the crowd.

She ran towards Isaac and jumped on him. We all thought he would push her away because he doesn't allow any girls so close to him.

But Isaac held her close to him.I saw he was truly happy. I saw Aiden exiting the cafeteria as soon as that girl jumped on Isaac.

When everyone listened to their conversation they were swooned. I could hear awe,Cute couple and all those things.

But I could feel my heart break. He is my mate. Don't I at least deserve a caring mate in my life?

I came outside, stood at the corner and wiped my tears. When I was about to leave, I saw Isaac kissing that girls cheek. He must love her so much. Even if I don't have love or happiness in my life, I want my mate to have that. I am going to avoid him even if it breaks my heart.

With those thoughts I started walking, after some time I could hear footsteps following me. I know exactly who it is. Mate.

I started running, at that time I saw Andrew standing near the tree and texting. Probably his girlfriend.

I went closer to him and hugged him. I knew Isaac left because I couldn't feel his presence.

He hugged me and rubbed my back.

"What happened Ash?" he asked.

"I met my mate but he is in love with someone else" I said and cried.

"Who is that? Tell me. I'll knock him some sense" Andrew said.

"Isaac Knight" I said.

He unwrapped my hands put a distance between us, looked into my eyes.

"Ash, I think you are jumping into conclusion. I've never seen him with any girl so close.You better talk to him" Andrew said.

"No,  I saw it by myself. I don't want to disturb their life. I also don't deserve someone like him" I said and sighed.

" Come on, let's go have some ice-cream and forget everything" Andrew said and pulled me towards the gate. He will do anything to get out of here.

I hope at least Isaac is happy in his life...
