Lauren's POV.

I woke up and got ready for school. I threw on anything then walked downstairs to the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast.

My mom was in the kitchen making breakfast, but I didn't have the time to wait here for her to finish cooking. After rummaging through the kitchen cabinets, I settled on a granola bar and bottle of apple juice and walked out the kitchen.

"Woaaah! I made breakfast. Aren't you going to eat?" she called out after me.

"Nah. You're still cooking and I don't want to be late to classes." I said as I opened up the granola bar.

"School can wait. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Take a seat at the table. I'm almost done cooking anyways."

"Dang," I muttered under my breath. I walked over to the table and took a seat. Mom emerged from the kitchen and placed a plate of pancakes in front of me.

I smiled. "Thanks, mom."

I quickly dug into my food and ate until the plate was completely empty. I grabbed my bag and said bye to my mom before walking out the house to my car.

I finally arrive and I met up with Chresanto, Jacob, and Craig who were huddled together by Ray's locker.

"Hey guys." I said as I strolled up to them.

"Hi." the boys said with a gloomy expressions on their faces. I knew that they were sad. After all, they were missing one of their closest friends.

I quickly gave Chres a hug before walking to my locker. I got my books for the day then headed to Chantelle's locker so that we could go to class together.

A few minutes had passed and Chantelle still didn't show up.

Where was she?

I usually didn't have to wait for her for this long. I furrowed my brow in confusion and headed back to the boys.

"Did y'all see Chantelle anywhere?"

The boys shook their heads. "Nope." Chres answered.

This was weird.

I waited for a few more minutes. Still no signs of Chantelle. If Chan wasn't going to come to school, the least she could have done was to text me and tell me not to wait for her. I rolled my eyes and walked to the bathroom.

I walked up to the mirror and fixed my hair and my lip gloss. Another girl was in the bathroom but she was in a stall. She was on the phone discussing something to somebody.

"Damn, Marion. You shot the wrong person! You shot a boy, not a girl." she half whispered, half yelled.

Was everybody and they mama's getting shot nowadays?

"No, it's was a boy. Ugh! I should have just cancelled the plan ahead of time," She continued. "You know what, goodbye." the girl said. I quickly ran out the bathroom before she could catch a glimpse of me.

I stood against the wall near the bathroom just to see who the girl was and to my surprise it was Mya.

Why the hell was Mya talking about someone getting shot?

Wait a dang minute. Ray got shot.

No, no, no. She probably was talking about another person. She is Ray's girlfriend. She'd never do such a thing. She just couldn't.
