My name was called and I walked out onto the large stage. The crowd clapped for me, and the only screams I heard were from TJ and the guys. I walked out to the middle of the stage that was marked with a small silver X.

I put my head down and waited for the music to start. When it did, I began to dance. I looked out and saw Nathan in the third row. I was nervous he was going to get caught, but I couldn’t focus on that now. I had to focus on my dance.

The music stopped and soon began to skip. My stomach dropped. But I continued to dance. I listened to the crowds cheers get louder and louder as the music kept skipping and suddenly stopped. I did everything in my power not to tense up, and I didn’t.

The very end of the song played like it should have and I had done the dance perfectly, I didn’t miss a beat. I walked off the stage and acted like it was nothing even though I was so excited I wanted to scream. I went back to the small dressing room and waited for the guys to get back there.

TJ burst through the door and hugged me picking me up.

“I can’t believe you did that!” He shouted.

“I can’t believe I did that either! I was scared shitless!”

“Jo, I swear if you don’t win first… I am going to be so pissed.”

“Have you seen some of the dancers here? They are so much better than me; I would be very grateful and happy if I get into the top ten.”

I glanced down at my phone. Nathan had texted me.

“You did amazing tonight.”

“Thank you. I hope you know that you could’ve gotten caught… How did you know where I was anyway?”

“Magnus.”

I sat on the stage with everyone else who had danced that night. I waited as they announced all of the places; my name wasn’t called for any. When it was the three top winners I got nervous, I was thinking how I could’ve gotten it, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up.

I did it. I heard my name being called for first place. Everyone in the audience gave me a standing ovation as I went and grabbed the trophy. I was really excited when I got the trophy, I knew I had to act calm and cool but no matter how many times I place, even if it’s twentieth, I will be excited and happy.

We were back at the hotel and I grabbed Magnus pulling him out of the way.

“I take it you saw Nathan.”

“Yeah… Why?”

“Why what? Why was he there?”

“Yes, why was he there?”

“I invited him.”

“Do you have any idea of what could happen to him if anyone other than you catches us?”

“I know, but I see the chemistry between you two. I saw it since the first time you guys met… I had something like that, once, and I let it slip away. I don’t want that to happen to you.”

“There isn’t chemistry between us. He and I… We can’t… We won’t work out. He’s him and I’m me… He’s an enemy of everyone I know.”

“You are just afraid to get hurt.”

Hell yeah I am afraid of getting hurt, but I don’t care about that. In less than a month I’ll go back to college and he’ll go back to playing in the NHL and we’ll never see each other. There is no chance for us.”
